TSB fixings?

Hello all,

I was wondering there shouldn't be any charge to fixing a problem that has occured and a TSB has been issued for its repair should there? The service tech was kind of a peckerhead this morning and I'm was just wondering. After his attitude I wish that my little saying at the end of my signature would happen to him. I've never had any dealings with a TSB before, everything that I have ever had done to a vehicle was done by recall or myself needing service. Any feedback would be appreciated.

TSB is warranty work basically. All a TSB really is is a guide for the techs, after all, we all know that many problems existed before TSBs...like the brakes.

So the answer is that you shouldn't have to pay 1 penny, unless you got a loaner, in which case you should already know if you have to pay or not since you have to sign things.

What he is trying to tell you is that the charges that you should incur are charges due to a rental car. He was not asking you if your Titan was a rental.

A TSB is info from the manufacturer to aid in fixing a known/common problem. It may or may not be a warranty issue depending on the problem.

This quote from Edminds.com pretty well sums it up....

"Service bulletin content varies in severity - you'll find TSBs that cover hard-to-start engines and clunking transmissions alongside those that offer remedies for inoperable cigarette lighters and slight paint imperfections. And some TSBs merely outline updated service procedures and troubleshooting strategies, or offer hints for installing something as simple as a front license plate holder.

And, of course, the best thing about finding a TSB that seems to cover a persistent problem in your vehicle is that dealerships will make the repair for free, provided that:

*Your vehicle is under warranty

*Your service advisor and/or technicians are able to confirm that the problem exists

The second mandate is not to be taken lightly, Chirico warned. Even if your vehicle is within the warranty period, "the dealership is not going to do anything about it, if [technicians] cannot verify the concern.... The manufacturer pays for the repair, not the dealership, and the dealership has to treat the manufacturer like a customer.... The service writer can't write up an invoice with just the TSB number and expect the manufacturer to pay for the procedure. The manufacturer wants to know that the car is legitimately broken."

Just left the dealership, their definition of TSB is if your vehicle is broke as described as the TSB, they will fix it. If they do not have a copy of the TSB(if though Nissan put it out), they won't fix it. I had to bring copies of the radio TSB to them before they would order a new radio, they thay had to verify my radio had same symptoms as peller out in the TSB. They would not change out the front brake pads until they were damaged.
