Rancho Update - Blown Struts

Well about 5 weeks ago I added the Daystar 2.5 to my struts. I only added the spacer in the spring just to get a little lift on the front end. I did not add the top spacer because the bolt really sucked in the kit. So to make a long story short - a month later both struts sounded like crap. I took it into the dealer and they said they are going to replace them and will even add the spacer back in. While I was there another guy pulled in with no spacers and two blown struts. WTF.... So I called Rancho just to see what they might say. Well they are not Rancho struts. They are some off-brand with the name on it. The people at Rancho would not ever give me anymore then that. If it was not for a great service department, my Titan purchase may be a real bust. This is the third trip to the shop. On a good note, my new radio should be in tomorrow.

Wow that really sucks michiganmade. I had the Daystar 2.5" lift kit installed by a shop here in Phoenix back in April. After that, I put almost 10k miles on the truck with no problems. The ride was a little stiffer with the lift, but that was it. I obviously don't have that truck anymore, but as soon as my "new" Titan arrives I plan on having the same lift installed. Hopefully this isn't a widespread problem with the front coilovers.

WTF? You have the OR package advertised with Rancho struts and they are not really Rancho struts? This sounds just like the "Rockford Fosgate powered" premium stereo scenario.

Maybe that's why my tires are starting to show signs of cupping. Rancho is supposed to have the adjustable shocks out for the Titan pretty soon.

Strange, everyone seems to be having these blow strut problems but me? I had both spacers added and not one peep from the front end... OR package and tow.

I hope it stays like that for you to. Honestly I never took it offroad or was rough on it in anyway. I wish I could get Rancho to tell me who makes them so I could call them up and ask some questions.

Isnt this some type of false advertising?
The radio clearly isnt Rockford Fosgate and it now seems the shocks are not made by Rancho.

Is this a common practice among auto makers?

I wonder if the shocks on Ford Fx4s are really Ranchos, or the Bilsteins on Chevy Z71s and ZR2s.

I only seem to be hearing of blown struts with the "rancho" shocks and the daystars. So is anyone having problems with the Daystar lift and the stock struts?

My dad has a tacoma and i'm pretty sure it had bilstein shocks on it, but that is cheap that nissan would not actually put rancho shocks on it.

I have the OR package with the so called rancho shocks, no lift, how can I tell if it has blown struts. I have noticed that my front end doesn't quite sound solid when I hit some bumps?
