Replace clutch fan?!?

Has anyone had any success in replacing the stock clutch fan with an electric one? I hate the way it sounds and I can feel it sap some power when it comes on. If not, who is going to be the first to try????

Are you talking about replacing the electric fan? Or are you considering replacing the main radiator fan with a flex-fan?

No, he's talking about replacing the mechanical fan driven off of the accessory belt that is clutch activated. I've thought about doing it as well. The fan makers claim 15-20 hp, but that remains to be seen I suppose. Let us know if you do it.

I've been researching it with a guy from flex alite. According to him they don't make a kit yet for the Titan but part#290 should work, it's a universal kit with dual 15" fans, A/C switch, variable thermostat and variable fan speeds. I'll be getting one soon and will report back my findings on this kit..

Been there done that with my supra and it overheated, still have yet to find an electric fan that will keep it cool. Now if an electric fan mfg. says there fan will save 10-20 h.p. how much added strain do you think your alternator gets to see, yeah about 10-20 h.p. worth and I can guarentee you won't find an electric fan that can move as much air as the stock fan clutch. Its good and dandy for the drag strip but if your gonna be towing or driving in warmer climates I'd steer clear. Just my 2 cents.
