Accelerator Control System question

I just got finished installing the OEM XM kit and when I went to put the ACS back in, I saw there was a square long shaft thing that seemed to have come out of the system. I can fit the piece back into the module but it does not want to snap back in. The outer ring seem to look like they should snap back around the main module but I cannot get it to budge. Is this supposed to snap back in or what?!? Please help. I cannot drive without this thign - go figure. Thanks in advance fo your help.

I was a bit of a PITA getting the AMP and tuner back into the bracket - the taking apart was the easy part - but I have been trying to get this thing to snap on for the past 1.5 hours and I am not having any luck - but there definietly is zero room under there especially for a guy who is 6'3" and 200 lbs. Yeah - I do have the install manual from Coutesy Nissan that I downloaded but they don't really tell you about much.

Well...after 2 hours...I finally got it back - And I just do not understand it...I pushed with all my strength and it woudl not budge and then all of a sudden, it just snapped right in with no effort at all - it still will baffle me.
