Rim size for new tires

I'm waiting for one of the lifts to come out so I can fit a 35 inch under my truck. I'm looking at new rims to go with the bigger tire since the 17's that come with the off road are not wide enough. Has any one changed theirs out yet? What size did you go with? And no I don't want to go with anything bigger than an 18. I do drive off road and don't need the trouble that comes with the bigger rims and smaller sidewall.

Ens,

DTEK is selling off a nice set of centerlines in the buy/sell section. They are 17" X 8" stingrays. You can see a pic of them on his truck in the thread. Have seen them in person and they look great on the truck. Can't remember the tire size he has on them.

Chris

Thanks, I asked him about them. He has the CST lift on his Titan, I don't think I will be getting up that high. I will look at the 4 to 6 inch lift and they say a 35 will fit too.

I just ordered the 17x8 Stingray IIIs last week, I'll be sure and post photos once on the truck. I'm going with the Nitto 295/70R17 (33x12) Terra Grappler. Also ordered a set of bushwacker fender flares and skyjacker 2.5" spacer.

LT, couldn't wait for the other lifts to come out? I'm waiting to burn up the tires I have on now. I can't wait to see the stingrays on your truck. You'll have to let me know how they feel on the road and off. I think I will go with the 17s too. They will be a flight school graduation pres for my self.

Boy, if this is the wheel, it sure looks nice(Advertised as lighter than a stock 17 inch cast wheel):
1-piece, Rotary Forged wheel
2200 lb. load rating
33" maximum tire diameter
The tires have a 206.5mm sidewall which brings me to the question:
Although the fender flares help even out the look of the truck with the new wheel/tire package, could they(sometimes) actually cause a more restrictive space which leads to rubbing? I heard this from a Jeep guy before and just can not picture how they would do that but thought to run it by you(my guess is he's referring to hardcore off roading).

NO. the flares are on the outside of the fender. Any tire to fender-well contact will be from the inside of the fender, independent of any plastic flares

Yeah, I got fed up with the wedge effect of the truck, and Fabtech dashed my dreams of a spindle lift in the near future. So back to square one and the coil spacers. I'll be sure and post a whole topic on the upgrade once it arrives.
