After reading some posts saying the have experienced 20 miles per gallon, and my trucks best highway milage less than 17, I wonder if the rich/lean sensor described in one of the tsb's could be causing some of us to get lower miles per gallon. Any comments?

True story: Traveling I-10 from Houston to beaumont, Tx and a Chev crew cab with dual exhausts and a lot of racing stickers on his windows kept trying to provoke a race from about 70 MPH and I would not oblige him, BUT, finally he p___ed me off and I obliged him after he floored his truck. He jumped me about a half a truck length before I could floor mine but my Titan quickly caught him and passed him easily. I slowed and when he passed he just waved and went on. Good bet he will be a new Titan owner soon or maybe just another P---ed of Chevy owner.
If you have CC 4wd, that's probably the best mileage you will get. Its within the expected performance or close. what is your configuration. I have the lightest possible with the least running gear drag, KC, XE, 2wd. I can get 19.5 anytime. weight is the biggest factor if the wind drag is about the same on our trucks and it probably is. juma
TallTexan, your signature shows K&N drop in, you tell a story about 70 mph kickdowns. That tells me that you are into the power of the truck. There is nothing wrong with that, but to get good gas mileage, it is a different kind of driving! In the 600 miles I have on mine, I have kicked it down 3 times! All 3 times were on the 2 test drives I took. In my younger days, I would have been all over this truck so far as pushing it, now, since I have tore up enough stuff in my life, that it is more of a "ok, lets see how long we can keep this thing nice"!
Anyway, your never gonna see big numbers when your enjoying that beast of a motor!

TallTexan,19 mpg sure isn't common with these trucks-most of them won't do it..We did a survey of best single tanks, all highway mileage, the 2wd with the 2.94 rear ends got 19+.Juma got 22(2wd XE KC,I think),someone else got 20 once,a couple got about 19.5 or so.When I got 19+ mpg-(2wd XE KC 2.94) I had it on cruise doing about 70 or less in flat country, and I stayed off the brakes as much as possible, got off the gas early and let it glide to a stop. The 4wd 3.36 vehicles got about 16 mpg hy,the 4wd 2.94 got about 17+ the 2wd 3.36's got ~18. In REAL LIFE city driving I get 12-13 or so.4WD and the 3.36 shouldn't hurt city driving much;most of us will get about the same 11-13 in true city driving(most full sized pickups V-8 of any brand-with ~300 claimed hp) will do about the same 12-13-the smaller Tundra Accesscab V-8 is maybe 1.5 mpg better, and the Hemi's are worse-maybe 10 mpg city).Charlie
I guess I forgot to mention that I have a two wheel drive and since I have the big tow package I have the 3.36 gears. As far as me driving my truck hard, I really baby it pretty much but some times some fellas will not let you be nice and you have to open a can of woop-*** to make your point. Next time I am at my dealer I will try to find out if the rich/lean sensor problem could cause bad mileage. In Texas our speed limit on our roads and freeways is 70 MPH but you might get run over doing that speed. 80 seems to be the preferred setting for most folks. I dont have but about 1800 miles on the truck so maybe my mileage will get a little better. My dealer has some good folks over there and they will bend over backwards to help you. I have had some problems with my truck but Nissan has proven to me that they will stand behind their product and my dealer seems to follow suit.

yeah, you will gain 1-1.5 then after you get past 4k miles. but, I forgot to mention, you need to run about 42 pounds of air in the tires to get highest mileage. if 80 mph is your number, that's gonna be a problem. I don't think there is anything wrong with your truck. juma
I'm 18 and i'm just pushing this truck to its limit. I get 13mpg
6 Months this monday 8/9/04 and already 12k. So sad....

I just got back from a 640 mile round trip. The ride up I got 17.8 MPG and the return leg 18.9. I've got 2800 miles now. I posted earlier in another post that I was only getting 8.5 city and 10.5 hwy. Well, I took the truck into the dealer to get the radio replaced and for a problem with the driver seat and I also explained to them about the fuel consumption issues I was having. The service manager said if there was a problem that the "Check Engine" light would come on but that they would check it anyway. They told me everything was ok but when I see the numbers I just got it makes me wonder. If my city numbers go up I'll know that they did something but whatever it was I'm not complaining as it's only 2mpg less than my Frontier was getting.
