seat memory

question for you guys. I just purchased a titan last saturday and wad wondering . does the seat , pedal mirror memory cause excessive wear to the motor. it only seems obvious to me that everytime you turn the vehicle off the seat moving back would cause prematur wear to the motor. I just traded a 02 maxima for this truck so I'm trying to learn some stuff from you guys that had yours or a while. Tanx.

Any type of device you use in your Titan will wear down. Its a known mechanical fact, you can't avoid it unless you don't drive it . As for seats moving back and forth for your convience, i haven't found anything that says you can turn it off. Just get used to it and set your seat memory configuration correctly before you mess up the default factory settings like I did.

Little annoyances...got it fixed. the seat kept on forgetting my config's.

If you have the Nav system you can turn the feature off through the electrical menu of options.

It says in the manual if you don't have the NAV system, you can take it to the dealership and they can turn off that feature. BTW, they can also adjust the timing on the Auto Headlights so they don't take 3 minutes to turn off.

I had the same thought... And had the dealer turn off the auto feature.
the seat memory feature still works the same......... all o.k. It only took maybe 5 min... Just done it with a handheld programmer in the parking lot.

FWIW, normal use of the seat motors shouldn't cause excesive wear. I have a 93 Volvo 854 with power front seats, and after 11 years it works just as good as the day off the lot.

Fair enough but did you move your seat everytime you got in and out the vehicle, which for me is at a minimun 4 times per day.

well, there were 3 drivers that were always using the vehicle, ranging from 6'5" to 5'1", and 300lbs to 120lbs... The seat got moved around a lot.

your call, tho.

The way, i figure, maybe after five years or so, IF i still have the truck, the motor MIGHT go out. At that point, I'll pony up the whole $50 or whatever it is an put a new motor in. In, the meantime, no worries.
