TITAN vs FORD

I cruised a road trip this past weekend and am glad to report that the F-250 and F-350 could not hold a candle to the top end speed of the Titan. At one point I had this F-250 tailgating me at a cruise speed of 90 mph. Knowing that the F-250 tops out at 100 mph I was just cracking up as I opened it up to 125. F-250 in the rearview...Needless to say not one Ford truck passed me on the entire 6 hour trip. I know these guys are now at home doing their Fix Or Repair Daily (F.O.R.D.) maintenance. Also I know they are wondering why their trucks are just so damn slow. Even though they have thousands of dollars in modifications.

You silly, silly man. What makes you think that with a bunch of mods that the Fords are still slow. I'll tell you what. I will race you any day. Also, with a Superchips installed on an F-150 your Titans dont stand a chance. If you race a comparable equipped truck. Granted, you cant take a lightweight Titan vs. a Loaded 4x4 Lariat. Of course you would win. But, just an FYI, my Regular Cab Short Bed 4x2 5.4L with 3.73 Limited Slip is beating Titans all day at the track with just an exhaust. No other mods...no chip...nothing.

I have a much higher tranny gear ratio than the Titans do too. We have like a 2.84:1 1st gear tranny ratio. You guys have a 3.**:1 I believe. Plus, the F-150's are so damn heavy.

But, I will take my truck up against any Titan anyday. I still have factory oil, intake, 87 octane gas....etc. My boss's Titan pulled a 10.10 at the track in the 1/8th mile. He has an extended cab SE 4x2.

Also, look on www.troyerperformance.com and check out the results for the new 04 w/ a chip. He let off at 135mph in a loaded 4x4 Lariat on the highway and also pulled 73mph in the 1/8 mile at the track.
My best times bone stock before exhaust in the winter time was 9.95@71.5 mph.

I am currently running 9.99@71mph in the 1/8 in Florida with 90 degree weather and 100% humidity and an exhaust. I am sure when it cools I will be in the 9.90 range. When I get my chip, intake and pulleys I will be in the low 9's easy.

I dont bash the Titan at all. But, you guys simply hate Fords. I have much appreciation for the Titan as an introducotry model. I think they did a great job. But, there isnt a Titan out there that is going to whoop a Ford like you guys say it does. Most Titans can beat the new F-150. I had to special order my truck from the factory with the set-up I wanted. I mean, c'mon. The heaviest F-150 available (6000lbs) 4x4 loaded Lariat ran a 16.3 in the 1/4 on a Motor Trend truck test. We all know that many of us have gotten better times in these trucks than Motor Trend or Truck Trend did on the same style trucks. I have personally seen the same style truck pull a 15.9 in the 1/4 bone stock. So, please dont bash just because. Have a little respect. If you beat him, you beat him...COOL. It doesnt mean he is at home fixing his truck because it fell apart from running it too hard on the road. That is beyond stupid.

Sorry for this thread Hellbound, sounds like Titantough had nothing better to do than try to start a fight. There are many ford owners that frequent this sight. Some of the Titan owners also have Fords at home in the garage.

I want to reply to your 1/8 times though. Yesterday I ran a 9.771@73.64 with exhaust and intake. This was with the tail gate ON, the spare ON, and the Big Tow dumbo ear mirrors ON.

I don't hate fords. In fact, I was an open minded shopper looking for a used F250 6.0 diesel, or new 5.3 Silverado when I stumbled across the Titan and took it home. Wasn't even one of the trucks on my list of things I wanted to test drive.

Anyways, heres a link to all three of my slips yesterday: my worst 1/8 time was 9.875 @73.27
Raceway Results

Yeah, mine shuts down earlier.. maybe 115. If you got up to 125, congrats!

Good luck with the pulleys and chip Hellbound, I really wish somebody would put out some quality aftermarket products for us. We're kind of stuck in the stone age as far as mods until the aftermarket catches up. If you hit low 9s in the 1.8, you are looking at low 14s for the 1/4, right? That would be one hell of a fast naturally aspirated truck!!! 9.3 seconds for the 1/8 would hopefully get you close to 14.4 in the 1/4. Any thoughts on getting headers?

Hey Hellbound, I hear what you're sayin'. I don't think TitanTough1 meant any disrespect, he's just really happy with his truck's performance and I admit these Titan's are surprising. I too am a Ford man and even though I have a Titan, when I want to burn a few Chevy's, Dodge, rice burners or whatever is out there, I fire up the Mustang and go huntin'. Trust me, I Love my Ford! I agree that that the 5.4 is an impressive motor and I nearly bought one, but the dealers are just too proud of their product and weren't willing to deal. And with your setup, I'm sure you're turning some great times. I'm near Tampa, where in FL r u?

Yeah, I agree you guys run some great times. But, alot of people on here claim to leave everyone in the dust. I mean, your 9.7 compared to my 9.9 is pretty close if you ask me. We are talking two tenths of a second. So, I would consider you and I as a decent match on the track.

When you see times like a 9.0 to a 9.9 then you are getting whooped bad. When I ran against my boss's Titan and I ran a 9.9 and he ran a 10.10 we were very close to each other. In fact I could see his front end if I turned my head to the side. His front bumper was at my rear bumper. So, we were an equal match. It was very close. He had a better reaction time than me so in terms of acceleration i did beat him through and through. My 60ft was 2.198 and his was 2.28. My trap speed was 71mph and his was 69mph. Either way, we were very close. Nobody got their *** handed to them.

Good talking to ya !!!

Thats great, you beat a Superduty. Big Deal. The SD is designed to tow heavy loads, designed to be used as a TRUCK. If you want to go fast buy a Corvette. Yes the titan is a good truck, but bashing other trucks is uncalled for. Comments like "they are at home doing there Ford (Fix or repair daily maintence)" do nothing but tick people off.

At least you Ford owners are understanding, not every Titan owner acts like TitanTough1, whom he is known to make other threads about his racing "odyssies". I must admit Fords have a great exterior design and I nearly got one myself until I found a Titan was pretty inexpensive if you know what to leave in and out.

Anyways, no hard feelings really, just some of us are a little jumpy on our trucks.

Glad to know a bunch of F.O.R.D. guys are checking out the TITAN TALK. They must be considering a trade up to a better truck. They are probably tired of fixing and repairing them.

I have had the truck at 120 and now 125. So if yours has a governor at a lower speed...sucks to be you! Go ask your service shop why!

I just did a one day turnaround yesterday from San Bernardino to Laughlin and back. Cruised 90-100 the whole way. I did stab it once and let it go. Mine would not go above 112mph. Fine by me since I didn't buy this thing to race.

My friend has a 2000 ford f-150 XLT with the V8 Triton engine. It has given him 80000 mi of reliable service. Ford makes reliable V8 automobiles, but they need to improve on the 4-cilynder area. I used to have a 2000 4-cylinder Honda accord and I always loved his truck. Back in April when it was time to replace my little car we went to test drive the new F150 and the Titan (I’m sorry I don't like how the ram 1500 looks. The front reminds me of my old school bus - I don't want to offend anyone just my own opinion). Based on the driving experience and his recommendation I made my decision. Yes, I bought the titan. I love the interior of the new ford it feels more like a luxury car - drives like one (I’ll leave this one for my dad). However, I loved how the titan takes off and drives more like a sport car (owned a Honda). Great truck with lots of power to spare. I don't know why people become so attached to a brand, or why they even fight? I don't care if it's a KIA or Lexus if they have something Ilike-I’ll get it.
