10,000 mile update

I just returned from a 4 day trip to Atlanta and the vehicle is averaging 18.5 mpg with the AC on all the time.

Dropped the vehicle at the dealer to service squeak from rear console, broken passenger seat lever, and imperfections in windshield. Sqeak is gone, lever on order, and I have to see service mgr next week (on vacation) for windshield replacement.

My complaints were mild ones, so I waited until I ran the mileage up to find all defective issues and have them all resolved at once.

I am very happy with my Armada. The only nightmare I have is cleaning the beast!

How fast-roof rack loaded?

18.5 is pretty good. In general how fast were you driving?Did you have anything on the roof rack?I'm thinking of trading our Pilot for an Armada. The Pilot just got 22.2 on a 3000 mile trip to AZ(from New Orleans)but it would be nice to have some extra room. What sort of city mpg do you get?The Pilot gets~13.6 summer,15mpg winter, not too good. Thanks,Charlie

The inperfections you mentioned that are in the windshield, is that towards the left and right side where it "curves", is it kind of distorted? Thanks

That's great mileage from an Armada. You must do a lot of highway..I've been getting 14.8 on average in combo driving.

The best I get is 16.5. Then again, I got 4x4 and offroad package.

I drove to Atlanta from Baltimore traveling at 75 – 80 mph. My wife and I, a few travel bags, and a cooler accounted for all the weight. Nothing was on the roof. My wife has allergies; therefore I drive with the AC on all the time.

I travel into the city as little as possible. My worst mileage in Atlanta was 15.23 mpg.

My best mileage was 18.99 traveling back to Baltimore at 68 - 70 mph. The trick is to find a speed between 65 and 70 mph your car travels uphill without your transmission up-shifting.

I have a spreadsheet to track my mileage and gas usage. My average mpg from 6339 miles to 10667 miles is 16.70 mpg. I get over 400 miles per tank of gas. I used to floor the gas pedal when I first purchased the Armada and the gas mileage was dismal. Tahoes and Expeditions only saw my tail lamps.

I do very little city driving, but when I do I travel the streets with the least lights, or the quickest distance to the highway. Of the 70 miles I drive daily, only 5 are city miles.

The windshield imperfection is located near the top left area of the windshield and looks like soap film sandwiched between the glasses. Yes it is where the windshield curves.

A loose clip in the rear overhead console was the cause of the sqeak.

Check your oil level at each fill-up. A ½ qt low level has a negative effect on your mileage.
