How many people use their Parking Brake

Before I bought my Titan, I had never used my parking brake on any other vechiles. But before I bought the Titan I asked to talk to the Service Manager. One of the questions I asked was care suggetions. He said biggest thing was to use the Parking brake when I park. Now, I live in Florida and there are not exactly a lot of inclines around here. Biggest is my drive way

I've been slowly getting in the habit, but I keep worrying that I am going to forget one morning that I put the parking brake on and try to drive off with it on. Already kinda happened once. My wife put the parking brake on when she got home the prior not, but only pushed it down like two inches (barely anything). Pulled out that morning and got about half a mile and noticed the parking brake LIGHT was on. Pulled over immediatly and released it. I'm sure it wasn't good for the brakes, but I doubt any serious damage (if any).

Anyways, curious of others are using their parking brake? Does it really help?

I use it when on any inclines. I never used it in my car, but the truck is so massive that I dont want to put all the weight on it in park. Really need to stomp on the e-brake for it to hold the weight though.

I use mine in my drive way that is inclined. It doesn't hold very well however. But I have noticed that shifting into neutral before putting it in park when on an incline helps with the "clunk" of getting it back in gear next time.

I guess I am the only one who uses it all the time. Habit I guess...I have always used the parking brake on all my cars. I didnt use it once on an incline, and almost couldnt get it back in gear.

I dont know about with the titan, but i know on GM vehicles the rear brake would tend to seize if you didnt use the parking/emergency brake fairly often. It might be a good habbit to get into to just use it occasionaly to keep the parts moving.

Hi Garrick, you are probably right. I think I will get back into the habit - used to do it all the time, even on flat surfaces. Drove my wife crazy - she used to drive off with the parking brake on...

I asked the same question a few weeks back. I got some great responses.

When do you set the parking brake?

I use mine ALL the time....just force of habit, as I always used them when I had manual transmissions. Granted Park would probably hold it since i don't park on an incline, just still comes in handy for some reason. I actually had to kick myself the other day for trying to back up with the brake still engaged. The truck moved, but you could tell something was wrong.
