Re: Nissan Diesel

Why would Nissan use an International or Caterpillar engine when they already make the right engine themselves?

Deisel is cheaper than 87 octane here, and has been for quite a while. It is running 10 -15 cents cheaper.

Name recognition. Not that many people know that nissan makes some great diesel engines.

Maybe with a lot of work but, stock Diesels are slow, long-haul pullers. It would take a lot more than just an exhaust, simple ECU programmer and intake to get one of those bohemoths to do a 6.9 0-60 but anything's possible with enough $$$. My experience was with a stock 03 Cummins CC 4X4. Never drove one all done up.

Re: Nissan Diesel

I already want to trade to get big tow and 4x4. Diesel power would push me over the edge and have me rollin in an 07

Ehh screw the Cat. They are very reliable, but they are almost always very heavy, very expensive, and replacement parts are an arm and a leg. Ii'd like to see a Cummins in the Nissan.

The chipped up Duramaxes and Powerstrokes are just as fast or faster than the Titan, so I don't know what's with all this talk about people are saying they are slow.

Re: Nissan Diesel

I will give Nissan another year to come up with official release of the TItan diesel. After that, if no real word from them I will be in a Dodge with the cummins. 87octane here is at the cheapest 2.87, where diesel is 2.77. Now you factor in the current 10% ethanol blend which will soon be at 15%, and the mileage is about to get stupid. I went from 17MPG or so to 15MPG at 10%. The newer cummins anyway, are lickety split as it is, you tweak and they get scary.

Joe,

Gonna have to disagree with you....

Here is a buddy of mine's 6.0 with just a tuner, intake, and exhaust (about 425 HP to the ground). Believe me it gets out of its own way....and a lot of others on the street much to their dismay

http://www.v6f150.com/unbrokendonut.wmv

He has now surpassed just the tuner and is pushing over 500 HP to the ground.

It's due out in 09 which means you likely will not see them until late 08. Good luck with the Dodge!

15% ethanol? I thought basic engines were only approved for up to 10%.

Very nice! But They just don't rev fast enough to put the HP to the ground like a gas V8 does. Very high torque makes them easy to smoke the wheels by brake standing but side by side, the Titan will be up to 60 before that truck would hit 40...they just don't rev fast enough. All that torque will do is break the tires loose. Now once moving, it would probably fly. Any idea what that trucks speed numbers are? I bet they're not 7.0 to 60. Thanks again, cool vid.
