TITAN questions...

whats up guys im looking to buy a titan within the next few months. Im not in any real rush and i want to do it right. im here to ask what i should look for in a titan and more importantly what to avoid. I know that i want a 4 door 4x4. I know that i want to lift it and go with 35"s.

Are there any significant/worthwhile changes in years 04-current?

Any significant engine/drivetrain differences?

What are the options that you wish you had and why?

I love the Titan and i want to know everything to look for before buying.

Thanks.

Re: TITAN questions...

I think only problems with the 2004s were the brakes and some difefrential or back end problem. Also 04-06 are little more peppy whereas after that they are little bit tuned down. 08 has new front grill and headlamps, also Long Wheel base available with 37 gallon tank. Interrior layout is different and seat cloth material is better.

I'm sure the guys who have had 04 and now 08 can shed more light.

Right now the deals are so hot on a new Titan that it is not even worth looking at used. You can probably get better interest rates and only spend a couple of thousand more with new over used. $10k off sticker is easily possible on a crew cab 4X4.

Re: TITAN questions...

HP upped to 317 in 2007, bigger brakes and payload in 08, minor interior redesign in 08. Early 04-06 had some brake issues, and some rear diff failures. Like I said eariler, go new. It is not worth the meager savings to get a used vehicle. Shop around.

Re: TITAN questions...

If you're going with a 4x4, make sure it has the offroad package to get you the lower gearing in the axles. That's what will get you the maximum towing capacity. I'd suggest that, even if you don't plan to tow.

You can also just get the Big Tow package and get the lower final drive ratio. Not to mention the fact that you'll get the hitch receiver, all wiring for brakes, and a transmission temp gauge. Better for resale as well.

I, for one, think the Off-Road trucks ride too harsh. Harsher ride = more annoying rattles and sooner. Just my opinion.

I will completely agree, however, with buying new versus used right now. Rebates and current new finance rates make it a no-brainer. I bought my truck used in December but I was laid-off at the time and any purchase was a scary one. Now I'm back to work and almost wishing I would have bought new. Then again, I got a great deal on my '05 and it only had 19,5xx miles on it. Good luck in your search.

Re: TITAN questions...

also the '08s have heavier dity axles
if you get one get the Pro 4 x
package, they look awesome (interior)

they will be off road ready, with BFG A/T's
and crappy Rancho shocks
but you will be ready...
