Re: VK56 240sx s14 swap

Interesting build. I saw someone on you tube is running a supercharged VK in a G35. it would be interested in hearing how it affects the weight distribution in a S14.

My S13 with SR20 always felt so balanced, especially slinging it sideways through a turn.

Re: VK56 240sx s14 swap

I think the weight distribution will work out really good, We have the engine sitting as low as possible without the oilpan hitting the floor, and the engine is barley a cm from the firewall. I cant wait to get it back on the track

Re: VK56 240sx s14 swap

alot of people think that the oil pan wont clear , but with a couple hours of fabrication there is no need to spend a large amount of money on custom aftermarket parts.

Re: VK56 240sx s14 swap

The reason I can't do what you did is because modifying the firewall was greater than an 18 in diameter is against the fd rule book. :/ Which means I can't set the motor that far back.

Definitely looks great though! It's good to see more people working on these motors!

What are you doing about your brake master cylinder? And what ecu are you running?

Re: VK56 240sx s14 swap

yes i carefully read both xdc and fd rulebooks. modifications to the firewall are totally allowed as long as the firewall is no wider than 18 inches, which mine isnt. what we did is completley dropped the center section of the subfram 2 inches so that the oil pan could clear in a nice location in which the transmission can fit under the 18 inches. ill check to see if i can get a clear picture.
• Dimension A: Tunnel Width May be no wider than 18 Inches
• Dimension B: Minimum dimension of 10 inches between the bottom of
the windshield and the top of the transmission tunnel.
• Dimension C: Modifications of the driveshaft tunnels behind the
transmission tunnel taper vertical plane should not exceed an overall
width of 10 inches.
• Dimension D: Modifications to driveshaft tunnels behind the
transmission tunnel taper vertical plane should not exceed an overall
width of 10 inches.
• Taper Length: (from the firewall to the end of the transmission tunnel
into the beginning of the driveshaft hump) may be no longer than 36
inches.
• No part of the engine casing may cross the vertical plane of the original
firewall into the transmission tunnel.
• No other modifications may be made to the vehicle chassis, frame, or
uni-body unless otherwise specified in these rules.
• Any holes in the firewall must be of the minimum size for the passage of
controls and wires, and must be completely sealed to prevent the
passage of fluids or flames from the engine compartment to the ****pit.Formula Drift Professional Drifting
2010 Rules and Regulations

Front and rear sub-frames and cross members must be stock and
available on the exact model that is competing in Formula Drift. The
subframe must also be mounted in the exact stock location, without
being moved in any plane.
Front subframes may only be modified to directly allow for oilpan /
starter clearance and steering rack relocation. The front subframe must
retain intact on at least one major member on one face that spans the
entire width of the subframe, thereby keeping the original dimensions of
the subframe intact. Any other modifications, cutting, welding,
strengthening, etc is not allowed.
Rear subframes may only be modified to allow for mounting or
relocating a differential. The rear subframe must retain at least one
major member that spans the entire width of the subframe, thereby
keeping the original dimensions of the subframe intact. An

Re: VK56 240sx s14 swap

I would be interested in seeing more.

Also how is the shifter location with the motor that far back? And how does the oil filter fit with the sway bar?

Re: VK56 240sx s14 swap

the shifter is about 4inches from stock. and the oil filter will not fit, but the solution for that is an oil filter relocation kit which is only like 30bucks.
