Question Ordering an 05

Has anyone heard when dealers will begin accepting orders for the 05 Titan? I'm getting anxious

I'm in the same boat. I'm waiting to see what (if any) new options (or option packages) and colors will be available. If there isn' t something that trips my trigger, I'll hunt down a good deal on a leftover 04. Good Luck on your order.

The 2005's are already showing up on dealer lots? I wasn't expecting them to start delivery until late October/November.

Let me try to shed a little light on this dealer ordering thing. Last century I had to have an Xterra, and not any Xterra mind you, I wanted one that no dealer had in a 300 mile radius of me. So I gave my dealer $1000 to "order" me one. Well after 2 months and no truck I took matters into my own hands and found the exact truck in El Monte at Gunderson Nissan. I made a deal over the phone and flew down to pick it up and ended up paying less including the airfare, than I would have paid at my dealer who didn't even have the vehicle and had no clue when my "ordered" vehicle would arrive. My salesman in El Monte said that dealers really cannot order vehicles from the factory like they did in the 60's, because it is logistically and economicaly impractical to do so. All they do is at their discretion try to "route" your choice vehicle to their dealership or trade with another dealership.
Basically when that delivery truck shows up on Thursday they have no idea what they are going to get. So if you want unusual combination of features or packages, you are going to wait pretty much until fate intervenes to get your truck.

So do this, when the 05's are released, go to CarsDirect.com and order just what you want. This takes you to a higher level of control and they will get your truck faster than the dealer can because that is what they do and they have priority because they move vehicles fast by cutting out the middle man(dealer). Try it ...you'll like it. Just use the option of working with a CarsDirect rep rather than a dealer when prompted. You will get a factory fresh truck at a great price

Sounds like you saw a 2004 XE.

I'm also waiting to see what, if any, changes they're making on the 05's. The only possible changes I've read on other forum's are: 1) Power Rear window - it moves up and down like the other windows; 2) Gravel guard or grill to cover the fan below the front bumper.

Did notice today that the prices went up on the options. It was actually changed while I was on the NissanUSA site building different models I liked. Price increases were mostly $100 on the SE options; Most popular options like Big Tow & Off-Road went up $250-$450.
The dealer I originally spoke with said that the prices would probably not go up on the 2005's to still compete w/ the Big 3. Didn't say anything about the options. Another sly move on the dealers part. I'm watching closely.

I was going to wait for an 'O5 too, but it got the best of me. I would have preferred the Red Brawn color, with the same options I have. Dealer said the '05's won't be out until December. I don't think it'll take that long.

Care to share when you got yours and what kind of deal you got?

I also heard the 05's are going to have a lift assist tail gate. Like the f-150's using tortion bars to make it easier to lift the tail gate

This is not entirely true, atleast for some dealerships. When I went to my dealer in the beginning of February to "order" my truck, the sale manager that I dealt with pulled out his book, sat down next to me, and we went through all 30 trucks, and every option that were included with each truck that was being delivered in the latter part of Feb., and his first two deliveries in March. Therefore I did not order my truck. There was one being delivered with every option + one minor additional item at the end of Feb. and I drove it home Feb. 28th.

When I ordered, they told me they were actually ordering one with the options I wanted. There was nothing out there with the combination I was after. So was it BS that they were ordering one and actually just waiting/trying to find one?

Now that I think about it, they actually gave me an order sheet from the Nissan website. Sure looked like it was being ordered/built.
