I ready for a new car, Altima or Maxima

I'm going to trade my 98 Maxima, I want to say with Nissan. Does anyone in here have the Altima or Maxima. I would want the V6 in both cars. I leaning more towards the 6 speed Max. For the guys that have these cars how do you like them?

i had an 02 maxima (3.5 v6) and it was awesome. i sold it outright to someone and then bought the TITAN. they are great cars. im not too sure about the new ones though, with that crazy front end. i do like the tail end w/ the dual exhaust.

Just out of curiousity, how does that long center sun roof on the new Maximas work? Does it retract off to the side or what? I always thought that was a strange set up.

I am sure I will get slammed here but.....

I would not own either. They are both front wheel drive. I dont understand why anyone would want that much HP in a front wheel drive car. If a loaded maxima is something you are considering then go look at the 2005 G35 by infiniti. That car can be had for 32k and is rear wheel drive. Not looking to get flammed by I just cant stand front wheel drive cars unless they are economizers.

Jeo,
My wife has a 04 Altima 3.5 Se. It is an awesome car, we love it. I looked at both maxima and altima and the few extra things that came with maxima just didnt seem worth the extra 4K so we went with altima. It is extremely peppy and handling is very good.

The heavier cars are fine.

Two things that stick out in my mind from driving front wheel sports sedans in the past are:

Front Tires Spin much easier when you are launching or turning corner.

After the car gets some age on it and things get more loose it seems that when you are in the throttle hard and the car shifts to second it wants to snatch the car off the road.

Also just to be clear, I am not bashing anyone that owns a front wheen drive sedan or wants to own one.

my wifes got a 05 altima 2.5s . She loves it and it gets super gas mileage(28mpg). The 3.5 is great and screaming fast but at this point the 2.5 is fast enough, a haven't tried it but my guess is that it would stay with or beat my titan.

I had an 03 Altima 2.5 until my wife got too envious of it. We wound
up trading her 03 Taurus for my Titan, and she got my Altima. I believe
the 2.5 is (was?) 175 hp, and handled our family of four with a full trunk
of luggage effortlessly on a trip to Myrtle Beach last summer.

I was surprised that this car listed for under 20k with all the power
features that came standard. All of the V6 models that I saw were at
least 26k, due to every one I saw with the bigger motor had leather
and everything else. It might be hard to find a base model with the V6
unless you special order one.

There are four other ladies that work at a bank with my wife, and they
all park their Altimas beside each other. Another girl has a new Maxima,
and water runs out when she opens her sunglasses holder. She has gone
round and round with the dealer and Nissan about it, and I believe they
are trying to work a buyback on it now.

I still enjoy driving the Altima when we go anywhere as a family, and I
miss it every time I have to put gas in the truck!

the maxima has either the skyview (long, glass down length of roof) or the typical moon roof that is power opperated. the skyview does not move at all. it has two sunshades inside that can close.

somebody had mentioned the G35 sedan and that is another GREAT option. those are real nice. the thing about front drivers, even performance ones, is they handle a little (read barely) better than rear drivers in the snow. the obvious trade off is dry performance and at that point you have to determine how much youll be driving in the slick stuff. is it worth the trade off?

I know you said you wanted to stay with Nissan, but when we were shopping for a new car for the wife the Honda Accord V6 was much nicer on the interior than the Altima. Just take a look, you wont be dissapointed! The 6-speed coupe is pretty darn quick too.

I have 03' Maxima SE and I luv it. I like the Altima too since my friend has it, but i prefer the Maxima because it's roomier.
