I am getting ready to get the CST lift for my truck, and this being my first venture into off-road - I need some advice on tires. I want something that looks pretty aggressive, but not a tire that is going to roar at highway speeds on pavement. I have been talking to a few different people and have heard a few different things. Right now I have it narrowed down to a few different tires: Super Swamper SSR Radial, BFG M/T, BFG A/T, Super Swamper TrXus A/T and the Goodyear MTR. Do any of you guys have any real experience with these, or others I did not mention? Any help would be great!
Also, if you guys want a great deal and GREAT service - give Cloud 9 Motorsports a call, or check them out at www.cloud9motorsports.com REALLY good people over there!

ATs are not much louder than stock, if at all. The MTs are a bit louder, but ALSO they made the vehicle move all over the road, more so than the ATs.
Of these two, for sand you would want the ATs. The MTs are made to DIG, the opposite of what you want. If you go to BFGs site, you will read how the AT, when aired down, will FLOAT over sand much better than the MT. If you are looking for a mud tire, then you would obviously go with the MT.
The ATs also wear alot more slowly and evenly than the MTs did. If you are going to keep these tires on ALL the time then go with ATs especially if your off-roading consists of sand, gravel, dirt, anything but mud.
If you are looking for a weekend tire and you want a more agressive off-road/showy look then go with MTs.
BTW, I would steer clear of the ProComp XTErrains as they wear VERY quickly compared to the BFGs. Must be the different compound or something. The other tires on your list I have never used.
I have found an advantage on our Jeep Wrangler for the MTs though. The jeep is so light that in the sand, the tire makes very little difference in AT vs. MT, but on ROCKS!! the MTs seem to grab much harder. The ATs some times spin on a steep rock climb, probably because the rock surfaces can get slick/smooth. But that is for a Jeep, my Titan is 2wd, so I won't be rock crawling the truck with Mudders anytime soon
One 4x4 is enough for now.
I know you didnt mention them but you might look at the Nitto's I have really liked mine and they are really quiet but look quite agressive... I really like how they have a nice square edge and the sidewall design... you should check them out... Plus they are a little cheeper... When are we going riding....

I have heard the same thing about the Pro Comp Xterrain's - and that they are really loud on the pavement. My Titan is 2WD, but she won't be a road queen all the time - I am into some good fast fire-roading. Anyway, I have looked at the Nitto Terra Grappler, but they don't have the size I need. The closest they have is a 325/65R18 - and I would need a 18x9.5 rim for that, which I believe would rub even with the CST lift. I really need a 35x12.5-17 - which Super Swamper has in the SSR Radial. That really is the tire I am leaning toward - I was just hoping somebody has some experience with it.

Hmm I am running a 18x9.5... No rubbing... Man with another 4 inches of lift I cant believe you wouldnt be fine... But you gotta buy what you like... What track is that by the way....

I might do that then, it just depends on finding a good 18x9.5 wheel. Thanks for the info. That is the Hangtown National track at Prarie City. Near Sacramento. What class do you ride?

Pro Comp makes a 35x12.50R17 in both AT and MT, I've heard good things about both. The xterrains as mentioned are way over rated and over priced. I'd stay away from Super Swamper unless you enjoy teeth chattering vibrations. Great off road tire, but I wouldn't put them on anything to driven mainly on the streets. Goodyear MTRs are probably some of the best all around tires.
I ride 125/250 Intermediate - but there are some REALLY fast guys in my class up here. Jared Morrison, Buck Ford, Daniel Sani, Cody Hinson - to name a few. Good competition though, so it's all fun. I don't race much anymore, but I practice all the time - there are only a few GOOD tracks close.

I don't like the Pro Comp A/T - they look really weak to me I don't know about the M/T though, that might be a possibility. I thought the same thing about the Super Swampers - but a friend of mine has a Super Duty with 10" of lift and 36" SSR Radials and he said they aren't really that bad. Just a slight noise at 40mph and 70mph - everything else was just a little louder than stock. Keep all the info coming guys - thanks!

I had BFG Mud Terrains ...they are great for traction in the slop. They were extremely noisy, but that was mostly due to the front end being out of alignment. I have ridden in other trucks that had them, and it was not so bad...

BFG MT are pretty awesome all around in my book. It's a truck, not a caddy !!! Noise is ok ... but, this go round, I went with the BFG AT. MT are obviously for the mud, but I had my Xterra up to the rockers in sloppy mud and got out with the POS BFG Rugged Trails ... would have been easier with MTs, sure, but being in the mud is about 30% tires and 70% human (don't get me wrong, traction is important). The AT are probably the best all around tire out there, quiet(er), good traction in everything and because they are part of the "K" series (KO, KM, etc), if you ever get stuck, BFG will pay to tow you out !!! Little extra insurance. The MTs will wear quicker and thier snow traction is surprisingly inferior to the ATs ... go figure ... anyway, my $0.02
Also, bear in mind on the Swampers (GREAT mud tire !!!), that they were quiet on a truck that weighs a TON more than the Titan !!!
