Wow...awesome. I'm really hoping this thread gets some traction and is filled with good info. Make it a sticky, please!
I love my Titan and I use it for towing all the time. But I'm not really a truck "enthusiast", so I don't hang around here enough to keep up with all you experts.
TitanTalk has been great for helping me figure stuff out when it breaks. The info on these forums has saved me a TON of money, such as when my manifolds cracked.
But I came here today specifically looking a thread like this...a quick listing of links to all the stuff I don't know to be watching out for. What I would have given to know I should check the rear shackles BEFORE they broke...
So...anything else? Especially drivetrain stuff. I tow a lot, so I want to make sure my drivetrain is as reliable as possible. How are the timing chains on these engines? Valves really never need adjustment? Do we know when the coils tend to die? Any particular things that creep up when you clear 100k?
I'll add that I had the flange on the exhaust between the mid-pipe and the tail-pipe (near rear axle) rust completely apart after 5 years of Minnesota winters. The rest of the exhaust/muffler looks fantastic...but for whatever reason that flange just completely disintegrated. I cut off the flange and welded in a short bit of tubing, and its been great since.
