Unofficial Maintenance Guide?

I did a search and came up empty. After reading some recent posts about issues with the T.

I thought it might be nice to start a running list or unofficial mantenance guide regarding known issues and some kind of interval to inspect them. I think it would help out alot of people if there was one thread to the what/when/where to look for potential issues. Its safe to say that we as owners should check items that the dealer seems to overlook during routine maintenance. Maybe some precautionary inspection can avoid costly failures down the road.

I'll update the list as people post up. (post up in the following format)
Part - What to look for (applicable titan years)

Inpection at every OCI.
Rear Diff Vent - check operation and/or open diff fill to release pres/vacu (04+)
Axle seals - check for leakage (04+)
Radiator - check for leakage (04+)
Trans cooling hoses - check for cracks/hardened lines (04+)
Exhaust Manifolds - check for leakage (04+)
Transfer case propeller shaft seal - check for leakage (04+)
Rear shackles - check for signs of failure (04-08)

This thread should help, but I guess the cap seal leaks on occasion and the rad cracks near the fan shroud mount.

Radiator Information / Reference Thread

Wow...awesome. I'm really hoping this thread gets some traction and is filled with good info. Make it a sticky, please!

I love my Titan and I use it for towing all the time. But I'm not really a truck "enthusiast", so I don't hang around here enough to keep up with all you experts.

TitanTalk has been great for helping me figure stuff out when it breaks. The info on these forums has saved me a TON of money, such as when my manifolds cracked.

But I came here today specifically looking a thread like this...a quick listing of links to all the stuff I don't know to be watching out for. What I would have given to know I should check the rear shackles BEFORE they broke...

So...anything else? Especially drivetrain stuff. I tow a lot, so I want to make sure my drivetrain is as reliable as possible. How are the timing chains on these engines? Valves really never need adjustment? Do we know when the coils tend to die? Any particular things that creep up when you clear 100k?

I'll add that I had the flange on the exhaust between the mid-pipe and the tail-pipe (near rear axle) rust completely apart after 5 years of Minnesota winters. The rest of the exhaust/muffler looks fantastic...but for whatever reason that flange just completely disintegrated. I cut off the flange and welded in a short bit of tubing, and its been great since.

Re: Unofficial Maintenance Guide?

Hey Neal. Thanks for the input on the exhaust. As far as your questions. Hopefully some more knowledgable members will chime in. I listed everything that I personally know of that we could check to avoid huge issues down the road. So far there have been plenty of lookers but no additional info being offered. I'll update the thread as needed. Thanks.
