Air Escaping from the intake

Had my truck (2011 CC PRO-4x) up on a lift the other day, getting a muffler(Magnaflow) swap. I noticed that when the mechanic was pressing the gas you could hear air flying down from the intake.

Another mechanic also confirmed this too. I could the dealer and they said "It could or could not be normal" They (Dealer) said that if it putters to bring it in, if not don't be worried about it!

Has anybody else had this problem, if there is a problem? only mod is the muffler swap!

Thanks!

Could it be the fan right there? That thing moves a lot of air.

+1 on the fan, but if it is the intake you would just have to make sure everything is tightened up. or you can go to AJUSA.com and buy a new Airaid 4" intake for a very low price

Re: Air Escaping from the intake

Intakes channel incoming air into the intake manifold and can't possibly blow any air out in a NA engine.

I agree, the engine sucks air in through the intake, it would not blow out anywhere. I am too guessing what you were experiencing was the fan. If there was a hole anywhere in the intake, the air would actually be flowing in. Now if it was called an outtake, that would be a different story.

Re: Air Escaping from the intake

Thanks for all the feedback! The Dealership didn't mention anything on the phone about the fan. Now thinking about it, I am sure that is what it was. The dealership did mention that it wasn't a totally closed system, and that some air does escape. Anyways I haven't seen any loss of power, and i haven't thrown a code. Back to 80mph cruising speed!
