Re: What is the best way to get better fuel mileage

Not sure how many miles on it but basic tune up will help. Especially spark plugs if it hasn't been changed.
Remember though it's a big V8 truck.

Re: What is the best way to get better fuel mileage

Realistically, use cruise control, check your tire pressure often, accelerate slowly and simply slow down. A couple of my friends have tried many products and nothing seems to produce a measurable increase in economy. Can some of the products improve performance? Most certainly.

17 mpg at 55-60.
10.5-11 mpg at 55-60 while towing a 4000 pound boat and trailer.
All on very flat coastal roads in eastern NC.

Trade it in for a 4 cylinder.

It's a V8, don't expect miracles.

I have a Gibson exhaust, hypertech Max energy tuner, AEM brute force intake, no secondary cats and I don't think my mileage has changed in either direction since. Seems like whether I baby it or beat on it the mileage stays around the same. The problem is once you do exhaust intake tuner you won't wanna keep your foot off the throttle. Its a big thirsty motor. Last road trip in crappy winter conditions I got 16.5, was happy with that considering conditions. Good luck and welcome.

Mileage is a factor of good maintenance.

Mileage is a factor of speed and acceleration. Fast starts kill it. The drag co-efficient is fairly high on our trucks. I can say that 55 mph is a 20-21 mpg achievable event while 69 mpg is a 17 mpg event for me.

Best sounding exhaust is subjective but I have a Banks. Do a Youtube search for Titans and the various exhausts to get a sound you like.

Exactly. Want better gas mileage? Drive as slow as possible without lugging in 5th gear. That means lowest RPMs you can manage in 5th without lugging the engine or getting downshifts from being too close to the threshold.

Re: What is the best way to get better fuel mileage

Thanks for the replys I'm not expecting to get great mileage ( its not a Honda civic or anything) just kind of looking to see what everyone has for chips and exhaust, I have watched videos on YouTube and like the sound of the banks exhaust!

Thanks again

Re: What is the best way to get better fuel mileage

Cai and free up the exhaust, You will have to be able to keep your foot off the gas though, with those and even a tuner you will not see much at all. I did pick up 1.5 mpg with my 05 but I think that is mostly gas quality. If you can put non ethanol gas in your titan you will see a improvement.
