maybe we should inquire about having a place on the forum for oil analysis if there's going to be more people doing them. What do you think?

Sound's like a great idea JetTech. This may give us some insight into the diff "issues".I work for an oil company (I know ,I know they are money grabbing bastards) that takes the stance of being one of the higher quality distributor's in our area, that being said when talking with one of their technicians (some type of chemical engineer, if I'm not mistaken)who is very knowledgeable and quite honest with me,he told me that if you were going to deal any of our competion then chevron is probably the best one to use,as far as mineral based lubricants go,although I think they are strong in synthetics as well.
I just work here and am slowly learning about the business, I make no claims about being an expert and can only go by what I am taught.Hope this is helpful.
I will try to find the analysis from my first oil change with the factory fill.

What oil filter did you use? The insolubles seem a tad high but then again its pretty arbitrary to make any conclusion when the engine is still breaking in. One thing is for sure though the chevron supreme both in 5w-30 and 10w-30 really shines in the vk56. The low wear metals at such a low milage that we've seen on every titan UOA show how well these engines wear fit together. I guess the "micro finished bearing journals" that Nissan advertised with this engine are showing their value. I'll have a sample of german castrol syntec 0w-30 here pretty soon.

When I spoke with our technician his thoughts were that this oil wasn't bad for the break in period, and I should check again with the synthetic blend 5-30 to make sure things have leveled out.I am now at 10,000kms I'll keep you posted.

Re: 4500 miles on chevron supreme 10w-30 wow

There's been alot of talk about Syn oils on this site but look at how good this Chevron oil is in this test sample.
I thought I should move this up to the front for anyone who wants to save some money on there oil changes.
Look at how good this oil test sample is it at 4500 miles on dino juice!

And Blackstone says he should run this Chevron oil up 5500 miles next time and see what another test sample shows.
People are looking for extened oil changes so they go with the Syn, but look at this oil at almost 5k and still going strong all for about a $1.00 per qt.

This Chevron test result is Very close to Jets Mobil 1 0w 40 result with just over 5k miles on it.
I'm sold on this stuff to say the least. You can get it on sale at most places for under $1.00 a qt.

How can you beat that.

Deep.

Re: 4500 miles on chevron supreme 10w-30 wow

Im not suprised, a few of us have been saying this forever, that dino oil is perfectly fine. i personally use and change dino oil every 5000 miles for 7yrs now, never had a problem.
