Titan QC issues...should I buy one?

Hi everyone! I really wanted a Titan and I think it's a great looking truck...I was all primed for an '05 til I read about the various Titan issues and they seem to be significant. If you could do it over, would you have bought another truck? I own a 97 Chevy K1500 and it's been mostly trouble free.

Stay with your 97 chevy K1500, and use the Titan money to finance a motorcycle trip somewhere exotic. This way you have a bullet proof truck, a nice trip, and I get to keep my illusion that my Titan was especially made for me.

I've no regrets about my purchase. I've had it since June and still love driving it despite having to have dealt with the brake judder and radio problems. This truck has impressed me from both a work and commuter perspective.

Quality issues come with every car, truck Mfg.s.
I personally have had better service out of my Titan than previous trucks i.e. Dodge and Ford. My Toyota's have always been relativley trouble free as well.
That said you might get unlucky and get the odd lemon in the bunch, you just gots to spend yur money and takes yer chances.

Only had it about a week, but would do it again. Go look at some of the other forums. They all have problems also. Also, keep in mind that a lot of people don't come to the forums unless they have problems. There has to be around 70000 some Titans out there right now and I think there are only around 2804 members on this forum. Then take into consideration that some of them are probably not Titan owners. Of course some of those 70000 may have problems and not be on a forum.

I haven't really seen any major problems on this forum that is an epedemic. The biggest issue I see is a few people had differentals go out and somebody lost an engine and I think I read about 2 tranny problems. Most of the issues are nit noy issues like stereo problems, squeaks etc. Granted they can be annoying, but not something that should keep you from getting a Titan.

I test drove the f-150, Dodge Hemi, and Titan back to back and I felt this was the best choice.

You need to test drive them all yourself and then make a decision. I know I am very happy with my decision.

I didn't think about getting a different truck than the Titan I got - albeit a few minor issues but otherwise no problems. Mine was built 3/19 and I took delivery with 225m end of June. I suffered the dreaded radio fade issue and am currently dealing with the brake judder issue that will be fixed this coming Tuesday.

I gotta tell you that the QC issues were a major concern before my purchase. Mine has a June build date and the only psuedo-problem I've had is a minor squeak from the plastic piece that tops the guage cluster. When I'm feeling industrious, I'll pull it off and add fix it myself. My power windows work like a charm. I don't know if I got 'new and improved' window regulators, but they work a lot better and with less straining than the ones in the Frontier I traded. Body panels are all straight and gaps are even. I haven't noticed any mechanical quirks whatsoever and she brakes smooth and straight. I've always had great luck with Nissan products (this is my 4th, dating back to an '87 Sentra), so I would recommend one without hesitation. Best of luck with whatever you decide to do.

Hard to say. Before I found this website I thought my truck was flawless. Now I have reservations about my crappy radio and I think I might just be feeling the judder starting up. Kind of a buzzkill

Been driving my Titan for a whopping three days....but have 700 miles on it already. The 600 mi. drive home from the dealer was pure heaven. Well, except for the highway shudder from 40psi tires, but that was readily fixed at a gas stop. It's just an awesome machine. I've never had so much fun in a vehicle. (We'll leave the back seat of my '69 Buick out of this discussion thankyouverymuch.) There are a few minor fit issues with interior pieces and a slight dissimilarity between gaps on the sides of the tailgate. I'm working up a list for the first dealer service visit. The list is largely small, nit picky stuff and nothing even close to a major safety or performance concern.
Good luck with your decision. As for me, this is simply the most truck for the least dough.

Brian

7K miles, and significant amount of those being in Boston. Brakes are perfect, firm pedal and zero vibration since day one. Other than FM reception which I never listen to anyways I have zero complaints about this truck, of course there are things I would change but I got exactly what I paid for.

My personal take is that so many problems become public knowledge as a result of forums such as these. The difference between Titans and the other brands is not the trucks themselves...its the owners. Titan owners seem to be much more open minded and not afraid to ask questions and make issues known. I would guess that many of the buyers of the other three have many similar issues, but just don't voice them. I've seen the responses that people get on the other forums when they discuss displeasure with their purchase. They are instantly looked upon as an outsider and told to go elsewhere, and not just by one person. To post issues at those sites just doesn't pay. Here, everyone is commited to helping others and doing what they can which gives everyone an incentive to bring problems to the forefront. In rare instances, some people have posted threads announcing that they have given up their Titan for another brand because of the issues with their truck. I have NEVER read a post in such a thread where a member has said something rude or crass. Quite the contrary infact. I have always seen members tell these people that they are always still welcome here and such. That is why I believe that the Titan's "appear" to have so many issues. Its simply because we are not afraid to discuss them with one another.

I would buy this truck again in a heartbeat! It has had a few, very minor problems but what first year truck doesn't? Like RadioKid said he thought his truck was perfect until he started looking around the TitanTalk forums. Same here. The thing to remember is that there is no one truck that has all or even a majority of the problems listed. Most have one or two issues and Nissan has TSB's out to correct them. Where TSB's don't exist, I'm sure Nissan is working on solutions.
