My b-o-d is 2/04 and my main problem with my radio is that it sounds ten times crapier than the cd ,,which sounds pretty good to me,,,,is this part of the problem everyone is having???
If you have the 6 disc CD/radio (or RF), then yes, that was part of the problem along with FM reception (reception switched between stereo/mono or was just generally poor). The radio TSB calls for the CD/radio unit to be swapped out with a newer one.

The main problem with the radio's was that they would not hold stereo.
They would switch to mono and sound very flat and tinny with no full sound or bass. I refused to listen to the thing it was so bad.
Now with the new TSB radio, I've traded no FM on the old radio, for static but in stereo sound with zero or very little SSV volume changes and RSD scroll errors as well as very slow scrolling and locking up and displaying a blank screen now and then on the new radio. I'm also getting tired of my truck being at the dealer for repairs that should have been done right the first time!
Ok buddy,,,remember to breath,,,I can see your frustrated,,,,Sometimes you just have to be the guy thats real annoying and refuses to leave the dealership unless you are satisfied,,,,,sad but true

I just thought that I would share this with you. My truck has been at the dealer for this and many other things that are in need of repair sense Aug 3. I have not been able to drive my truck in over a month!
My truck has also been in the shop off and on for repairs for over 3 weeks back in May and also 2 weeks in June and 3 days in July for repairs.
I have been very patient threw out this whole process.
I love this truck! I just wish they could get the thing put back togather right! As well as venders sending out quality parts like the radio.
Just thought that I would let you and everyone finally know about this, I have been trying very hard not to bash this truck on this site, I have not been posting very much about all of my problems that I have been going threw. Like I said I love the truck and would not want to shy anyone away from buying one. My hope is that you can now understand better some of the things I have been going threw.
Thanks. Deep.
I am amazed at the differences between Titans and I can not really see any correlation to the month it was built. I have had some problems but not any more than other vehicles I have had. I had the a/c drip problem and the rear center seat belt problem, and that is it. I took my truck to my dealer and told him I thought I could feel the judder in the brakes and my radio did not sound too good and he replaced the radio and did the tsb on the brakes. I have personally chased and fixed a couple of rattles which were pretty obvious once I started looking. At 56 years old I have bought a few vehicles and this one certainly is not the worst or the best, but I am very happy overall. My truck was built in January o4 , and should have been one of the problem trucks. We may never know what happened but it sure boggles the mind.
I do not have problems with the radio. SSV works as advertised (Titan was born on 6/04). Its the crappy speakers that need replacement (sounds like the rear right speaker is blown).

You can say that again. My truck was built late Jan 04 as well, go figure.

I think you pretty much nailed the problem I'm having. Just sounds weak...thin...monaural...like it's coming out of a bullhorn instead of a true stereo system with multiple speakers. I can't say I'm having any station fade issues, as it seems to pick up the same stations as my '89 GMC does with equal ability. It's just no fun to listen to! My BOD is 6/04, 6 cd changer radio in a XE/CC. From my interpretation of the TSB, I'm outta luck. Not sure if I'll ever pursue it with Nissan. I'm having too much fun driving it and I can't bring myself to part with it for even a day! This truck has got to be the best thing on four wheels these days. Drives like a sportscar, and still hauls the freight.

I got mine swapped out the other day. It seems to have better, reception (especially AM), sound, but the difference in radio and cd volume remains, weird. The SSV is hardly noticeable if at all on low or mid so I put it on high. Even on this setting it's very unnoticeable but I would rather have it like that. On the older radio, even on Lo the volume was incredibly drastic between stopped and accelerating. I think the new radio is ok, not great but better than the old one. It does its job. In the future if someone comes out with a really good replacement radio, maybe I'll consider it.
