Interior Cleaning/Arm Rest Issue

I am having some problems keeping my arm rests clean. My first mistake was getting Sand/Steel cloth in my SE - but that can't be undone. Everything was fine for a couple months, but now after I clean my seats and arm rests I get this odd thing happening. I use Armor All Carpet and Upholstery cleaner per instructions, and it looks great. Until you run a fingernail or rest your arm on it for a while! If you run your fingernail across the fabric, it creates a scratch/rub mark that only comes back out if I use the cleaner again. After a couple days of driving, the egdes of the arm rest get the same effect. I have attached a really bad camera-phone picture - hopefully somebody else had the same problem and figured it out!

MXTitan, This is only a guess, but I would bet that it is residue from the cleaner that you are using.

All the white fibers, dust, bodily oils, dead skin cells, etc. gets the dusty appearance.

Try using a high powered vaccum and/or buy a new seat cover with arms.

My truck brand new did this... I think it is just that type of fabric... kind of a pain...

I think SWEED is right, I think it is just the type of fabric. I have a high-powered shop-vac, and it didn't help much at all. I am thinking about getting just the arm rests covered by a shop. How the heck do you get those things off?

I crashed riding the other day and scratched my right arm up from wrist to forearm. Got blood and neosporin all over mine on the ride home. I just used soapy water and it all came out pretty good.
