As I have posted before, I keep an Excel spread on gas mileage for my Titon. I am getting the same gas mileage now with 6,000 miles, as I got the first tank. 15.5, mixed driving. It vaires a tenth or two, according to how I top off the tank when filling up.
I too have been keeping an Excel spreadsheer on my mileage (I missed entering 2 fill-ups though). When I filled up today and figured up the mileage, it was the highest its ever been - 12.7 mpg. I have averaged around 13.9 mpg and I have 2500 miles so far. I asked my service advisor about it last week when it was in for the brakes and he suggested not using the cheap gase (Racetrack (if it is where you live), grocery stores, etc) and also throwing in Supreme once in awhile rather than always using baseline Unleaded. Of course I do alot of city driving so mine is going to be a little low, but I think its on its way up as per below
1st fillup - 211 miles driven with 18.94 gallons filled for an MPG of 11.14
6th fillup - 263 miles driven with 21.98 gallons filled for an MPG of 11.87
10th fillup (most recent) 256 miles driven with 20.12 gallons filled for an MPG of 12.71
I think my engine is finally breaking in...anyway just my data

I don't understand why some people get such lousey gas mileage in their Xterra's. I currently drive an Xterra (4x4, 5spd, intake, exhaust and synthetic) and it usually averages around 19 mpg. Why do two like vehicles differ so much?
5spd isn't going to make much of difference...yeah you get better mileage with a manual compared to having an automatic, but it's not really a big difference....maybe a few miles at the most. I had 5 spds until I got my Tundra (can't compare a Civic to a Tundra) and I know that while I had my Civic, I only did a few miles better than my dad in his Civic that was an automatic.
I have the same problem though with my Titan, alot of guys I see on here talking about it, get around 15mpg yet I have until recently been getting 11. Granted I drive city mostly, but still....I think there is an issue somewhere, but then again trucks are gonna get crappy gas mileage...sometimes I wish I still had my Civic in addition to my Titan, just so I had a commute car.

These mileage posts are all p-d awesome! A friend got a hemi-Dodge, and 10.5 mpg in town. Ha! Ha! (say it like Nelson on the Simpsons)
As I posted on the "as mileage vs. octane (data)" thread Gas Mileage versus Octane (data), I just finished a 1000 mile road trip to the Big Bend of Texas. I hauled 800 lbs of concrete and added weight of gear, tools, and lumber. My camp spot was 8 miles off the pavement, and I definitely needed my 4X4 to crawl some arroyos and hills.
I used 87 octane fuel only. My mileage was 18.9 mpg for the average of three tanks.
Prior to the trip my in town mileage had been about 15 mpg.
Both values are about the same as the mileage in my previous vehicle, a 2002 Escape 4X4 w/ V6.
The Titan is superior in every way.
I can believe the 10.5mpg city since i own one. I truthfully get around 13city, and 16/17 highway. If i am hauling its less both ways. I have heard of some getting as low as 11mpg. I would imagine altitude plays a factor in fuel mileage also. I am thinking of getting a old beater 4cylinder for back and forth to work. LOL
Remember the Titan uses appx 1 gal/30min of idle, so if your sitting in traffic your MPG will be much lower. I'm getting 14.5 with 50-50 driving and 4000 miles on truck.

so...ive read on here a few times that the gas mileage gets better around 5k miles....I have yet to read a detailed explination why. Is it something programmed in the computer or something?
I just broke 5k miles this past week and filled up my tank yesterday.I got 12.3mpg.
I am not smashing the gas very often. I Live in southern california where there is a lot of traffic.
I cant afford to drop $50 a week on gas anymore....when will this get better?
From The First Week I Got My Titan I Have Yet To Go Under 16mpg, And I Drive City 98% Stop And Go Altanta Traffic. I Have About 3000 Miles On There Now And Calculate My Milage Every Time I Fill Up, And Always 16mpg Exccept This Morning Got 17mpg . I Don't Drive It Easy Either, I Went From 119hp To The Titan So I Am Loving The New Hauses, And Have Quite A Lead Foot. The Only Thing I Don't Do Is Ride People Butts On The Intersate So I Don't Have To Stop And Go Half As Much By Leaving That Space.
-BTW I USE QUICK TRIP OR SAM'S CLUB GAS, OR WHATERVER IS CHEAPEST LOW GRADE 87 OCTANE

Reason: FORGOT SOMETHING
I'm on my third tank (just turned over 1K miles), and I've averaged around 14.5 mpg so far.
I think for those who are posting on this thread you need to indicate whether your Titan is 2 or 4 wheel drive. It will make a difference in what mileage you get.

Hey guys I have a 2wd Titan and I am getting 11-12 miles per gallon. My trip odometer is usually at 130-140 miles at half a tank. What kills me is my wifes H2 is a full time 4wd over 6000lb absolutley no aerodynamics brick with a bigger motor, and it also gets 11 mpg. I drive very conservatively in fact I don't even think my tach has been over 2500 yet. Oh well at least the price of gas has been trickling down.
