Hey guys I have a 2wd Titan and I am getting 11-12 miles per gallon. My trip odometer is usually at 130-140 miles at half a tank. What kills me is my wifes H2 is a full time 4wd over 6000lb absolutley no aerodynamics brick with a bigger motor, and it also gets 11 mpg. I drive very conservatively in fact I don't even think my tach has been over 2500 yet. Oh well at least the price of gas has been trickling down.
I have a 4WD with off road package. I am getting between 15-16 so far for my first 3 tanks. I am usually around 160-170 at the half way mark. I am pretty pleased with the gas mileage considering the size of the truck. I also test out the limits of the right pedal everyday; purely for the grin factor. ;-)

ColoTitan, 2wd or 4wd, KC or CC, etc. ? Weight is a big factor.
[edit] - I just looked at your profile and for "car" it states:
"SE 4X4 Offroad" so the only real weight difference might be KC vs CC, and I doubt if that is very much". So your "got 17.5 with 50% Highway and 50% City", is great, and something to look forward to! [What am I saying? 17.5 is great?, well I guess for a Titan].
I have a KC but the highway miles where for a camping trip with alot of gear.
We're seeing some W I D E ranging mileage numbers here folks...from 11's to 18's....WTF is the deal?? My own mileage has varied from 12's to 16's (all hwy...and kept it under 65mph)...4wd...seems like the numbers should be much more consistant. My 00'Silverado (4wd) got 16/17 no matter HOW I drove it...or where. NOT happy at this point...but only 2500miles, so we'll see.
I am pleased with my mileage. A little better than what my Dodge used to get. I think the problem is we all have developed a lead foot with this truck as it is so fun to drive. I average around 16 which I think is great.

Yup, I have seen all kinds of numbers on TitanTalk.com for a while now. I have got to the point now that whenever I see someone post numbers of anything over low teens (4wd, Big Tow) I just grin and know its just another case of good old-fashioned BS. End of story.
I'm averaging 16mpg with my 2wd XE . To be honest I dont take it easy either. I get on it pretty good every once in a while. Why would I own this truck and not. I was really hoping for better gas mileage but I will live with it because I love the ride.
M4ck
time for my 2 cents. Excepting one tank of gas that i got 16 mpg (on that tank my truck felt faster and sounded better as well... maybe someone mixed up which grade of gas was going in which tank hehe). i've been consistently getting 14.5 mpg in los angeles county freeway and city driving (80-90mph on the freeway with lots of slowing/speeding) and intense urban stoplight action. I drive in a relaxed manner on city streets with mid acceleration but no tail gating most of the time and im fairly agressive on the freeway (lots of tailgating and dropping 3-4 lanes to pass). I have a 4x4 kc with no offroad (*sobs loudly and dramatically). I'm actually thinking that id get better mileage with the offroad because of the more efficient accelration from the lower differential (i drive in 4th on the freeway unless im going downhill or have a nice long open flat stretch because this thing doesnt like to hold 80-90mp in top gear). I have noticed that i seem to get better mileage (at least by the gauge) when i drive mid level... if i try and baby it the truck doesnt accelerate efficiently and seems to use more gas and if I drive aggressively it uses a lot more gas - again just eyeballing useage by how quickly the needle goes down. I calculate my actual mpg by dividing # of miles by how many gallons it took to top 'er off. I'm wondering if the people getting better mileage than i am on here either constantly drive like grandma on valium or if they have the offroad or bigtow.

Reason: cuz i have no brain

Big Tow, Off-Road, fairly conservative 95% of the time, but unfortunately your theory on the O.R. or B.T. doesn't work for me. Last fill-up only 14.3 MPG, best 14.47 MPG.
I have to laugh at all of you who think when someone says that they are getting good mileage that they are lying. Just this morning I happened to check mine on the Nav System and it read 18.1 mpg.
Now before you all jump up and tell me I am full of BS, understand that I just drove to and from work, a total of 120 miles, on the expressway between 65-75mph.
My gas guage is sitting between full and 3/4 after 120 miles. Not sure why I am getting such good mileage, but I am not going to complain. When I filled it up the readout said I had over 400 miles until empty. I can live with that.

I got 17MPG on all highway, about 15MPG in commute to work, which is mostly highway but it is stop and go at 35mph anyway.
However, when it comes to CITY driving....I get between 11-13mpg.
vw1972bugs - it's the truth, but hey, if you want to live with your crappy milage and think that everyone else is BSing then fine, maybe it isn't the truck but the driver.
What's more is that there is a reason for the huge range here. From what I've gathered these trucks are VERY sensitive to your driving habits. The simple act of passing a car on a 2 lane road significantly effects MPG. Not only that, but it's is the little things....how often do you go above 2K RPM, 3K? There are other factors too, like humidity and temperature. Perfect example was my Accord which I just sold....some people got 26MPG on highway even though the Accord was rated @ 30, meanwhile I got 36MPG all the time.

I have a 4x4 KC w/Big tow
What is your idea of "low teens"? I have been getting 13.5 to 14 mpg on my commute to work 50-50 highway/city, plus local city driving. Last weekend, I was down to 1/2 tank, and went on a freeway trip of about 120 miles. My mileage went up to 15.4 mpg.
I am planning some trips soon, that will give me highway mpg. (most of which will be run at 75 mph+)...I am expecting to get 16 mpg or higher...and that is not in the '"low" teens. If I average 14-15 mpg, I will be meeting or exceeding my 1992 Silverado numbers, and the Titan is a much more powerful, and faster truck. I will post my highway numbers here from a 1500 mile highway trip in a month or so....Hope to be in the 'High" teens...

Iam starting to wonder if there is something wrong with mine, i get in city 10.7 mpg with 900 miles on it. what do you guys think i should do to increase my mileage
You all do know that their are diff gear differences between the packages? Consider stock versus big tow or even the offroad package. Apparently you fail to grasp the concept. Before you knock on someone else, think and use your brain to do some research.
There are many factors to consider:
1) 4x4 versus 4x2 = weight and drivetrain lose
2) KC versus CC versus SUV = weight
3) Packages, rear/front diff gears = different RPMs
4) Altitude
5) mountain driving versus kansas driving
6) so on, and so on...
To call other individual's stats Bull$hit or that they are lying it just shows your ignorance.
ENOUGH SAID.

i have a 4x2 crewcab with big tow, i live in florida no mountains, and iam extremly easy with it. others who have the same setup seem to be getting better mileage than i am. iam simply asking if there are any mods i can do to help my mpg. SO before you go off, and act like a jacka$$, know the facts.

Anyway, here is a thread regarding mpg Mods...Good luck!
