Bought my 2000 Maxima from Classic in Orlando...

When I traded it, I was shown where it had paint work done to it. I gave them a shot at this purchase and they weren't even close to Deland Nissan.

This shopping experience there was very 3rd world. I would never buy from them again.

Today went really really badly! I dropped the truck early this morning and they gave me a rental car. This afternoon they call me and tell me the paint work is done. This told me they did the repair on the lot. I get there... at first glance it looked ok so I left the dealership and stopped at a gas station to look at the details...

1. the entire scratch can still be see upon close inspection
2. they did not clear the full panels... they taped off at the top edge of the door moldings. You can see the clear coat edges.
3. there are contaminants in the clearcoat that you can see from a couple feet away (and easily feel)
4. a run in the clear coat where the doors meet
5. clear coat not buffed in one spot

I drove around for about 10 minutes and all I could do was get more pissed off the longer I drove. I went back to the dealership and asked to speak to the GM who I had talked to yesterday. He promised yesterday that my truck would be going to the body shop where the repairs would be done correctly. He was not in so I started explaining how crappy of a job they did to the guy that was "in charge". I told him that not only was I lied to they did a piss poor job of repairing the paint. He told me that all I could do was come back when the GM was there. I told him NO and proceeded to tell him that if he did not get the GM on the phone I would get on the net and make sure they didn't sell one more off their lot. He called the GM. The GM knew exactly what the situation was about. The guy I was talking to told me that my sales guy didn't communicate to the service manager that my truck was supposed to go to the bodyshop and not be repaired on the lot. That may be true or it may not... I will never know. After he hangs up with the GM he walks me over to the Titan lot and tells me to pick one to drive during the time they are getting my truck repaired at the bodyshop.

So at this point

1. They gave me a brand new Titan as a loaner
2. My truck is going to the bodyshop
3. My gf showed up in my Z28 which was repaired like the Titan was when it was new... I showed the guy exactly what will happen to my Titan over time (flaking clearcoat where they taped it of rather than clearing the entire panel).
4. I told them to put new moldings but I'm probably going to have to reiterate that tomorrow.

I can't believe that they even do this on the lot BS when it comes to repairing new vehicles. I'm going to go to the bodyshop tomorrow to make sure there is absolutely no miscommunication about what is to be done. I hate being a prick but I also hate getting shafted.

Stay tuned...

Tim

yep yep!

For me it's a 3-step process:

1) Ask for the item back.
2) Demand the item back.
3) Forcefully take the item back.

You get to 2 and I get pissed. You get to step 3 and you get hurt. Simple as that.

Glad there is at least a few that think like me! I was beggining to think I was some kind of barbarion! I am no pasafest, and I make no apoligy for that, you treat me right, I'll be your best friend. You do me wrong, we are going to war! I also spanked my kids when they were growing up, different degrees of spanking for different degrees of screw ups also! They have grown into respectful, contributing adults, uhnlike a lot of the youth I see today that got "time outs". IMHO sometimes physical IS needed in life!

I totally agree! I was spanked as a child, I quickly learned to behave properly. I even got the belt once when I did something REALLY bad.. don't even remember what it was now.
My mother used to slap me in public if I threw a fit over not getting a toy or something...
My how quickly the times change. Now someone sees you slapping your kid, you get the cops asking you all kinds of questions and CPS (child protection services) knocking on your door wanting to interview your kid.

If someone was hanging on to my keys or license and would not relinquish them to me, my personal property would be physically recovered.

Well the conclusion to the story is that I now have a new Titan (Silver). It is optioned identically to the first one except that it did not have the bed extender. I had a friend at Reed and she took car of the trade in. I did take a slight hit but the difference was small enough for me to get rid of the aggrivation this was causing me. I now have the color I wanted in the first place and it is with some BS crappy paint job. My friend let me pull the bed extender out of the old one for nothing I also got a free hitch receiver out of the original dealership.

The only negative on the new one is that the dealership installed the front plate mount... I really hate it on there but I've had no luck being able to order the bottom grill piece without buying the entire chrome bumper (over $400 lol). If anyone has a pristine bottom grill piece they are willing to sell let me know.
