Help: Titan is having a bad day.

Its been a rough day for my T.

First: Came home from a trip; went to start the T and got the slow crank. Dead battery. Replaced it.

Second: After just a bit of driving she through a code. P1148 & P1276. After coming on here, I replaced the upper driver side oxygen sensor with a new Bosch unit. Continued to drive it and the check engine light is still on. Stopped in at Autozone to have them run the codes and same deal. Guy tells me I might have to drive it 120 miles to reset. No idea if this is going to fix itself or not. He mentioned it possibly being the EGR unit??? Anyone have any thoughts?

Lastly: This is the icing on the cake for me. Backing out of autozone... I see a truck... avoid it no problem and ~bang~. Smack a cement light pole (I know... smack me). Damage... pushed the tin foil bumper up well enough to crumple the corner of my truck bed. This is where I need your opinions. Replace the left side of the truck bed? Have someone pull it out? I checked online... our truck beds are not readily available. A new OEM unit left side only is going for $750.

Appreciate any and all advice.

Re: Help: Titan is having a bad day.

You can try the ECU reset procedure to clear up the code right away or if it was indeed the O2 sensor you do need to drive a bit to see if it clear.

As for the bed, post a picture. Lets see how bad it is.

Here you go:

I'm mad at myself, but it couldn't have been a more perfect wreck. My bumper already had a dent from when I bought it and the only rust spot was on that corner.

I'll take your word for it. I'm no body guy, but I assume this "has potential" to be pulled? To me... it probably looks worse then it really is. As for the bumper... screw these things. I think I'm going to make my own.

I've seen worst been pulled and it came out really good. Depends on the shop/people doing it. Go get an estimate for both, pulling and replacing.
What about insurance?

Re: Help: Titan is having a bad day.

I was hoping to avoid going through insurance. I have a friend of mine that can source aftermarket parts at cost and he does bodywork. I'm hoping he can fix this for under $1000. I just assume pay him instead of paying my insurance company (over the next decade). My guess is, there are no aftermarket panels for this yet. I appreciate all the the advice. Fortunately, the truck is still drive-able. Now I just need to find this ECU reset procedure and see if the O2 sensor I replaced is the culprit.

Re: Help: Titan is having a bad day.

Replacing it is not going to be as easy as you're likely thinking. The bedsides are welded to the box part of the bed with a bunch of spot welds. To replace the bedside, you will have to drill out the welds, grind them down, them re-weld the new bedside back on. Then not to mention paint, etc...

I think pulling it will likely be your best option if it can be pulled back into shape.

Also, try a ECU reset for your code problem as baseballfanz suggested.

Re: Help: Titan is having a bad day.

Thanks everyone for the support.

I stopped into today to talk to my friend at the body shop. He showed me the machine needed to pull the bed back into shape. Looks like I should be able to get it close and then some straight forward bondo and paint and she should be fine.

Anyone know where I can source the decal in the back and or the "TITAN" letter s that are on the back of the tailgate???

Current plan is to redo the rear quarter of the truck and the tailgate. The tailgate had some dents when I bought it. This gives me a chance to fix it and blend the paint into the rear quarter reducing the potential visibility of any discoloration.
