What differences will there be in the 2013

Titan SV as opposed to the 2012 Titan. I had heard that there may be an upgrade in the engine of upcoming Titans. I am considering a 12 Titan SV with all of the bells and whistles of the premium Utility system. Will there be significant upgrades to the engine related to towing capacity and interior refinements in the 13 or even 14 that would mean that I need to wait. Thanks for the help for a newbie.

Re: What differences will there be in the 2013

13's are already listed on the website. Different tailgate with backup camera (not sure if standard or option). New steering wheel, but dash looks the same. No engine changes. On my phone so I cant search easily but wanted to give the quick overview. 2014 is supposed to be a major refresh but who knows if it will happen. I would have thought something would have been leaked already.

I was at the dealer on Friday, they said 2015 for the new Titans with the possibility of a diesel version available. I asked what kind of Diesel, and he said "The rumors are a Cat diesel".

Re: What differences will there be in the 2013

These suttle changes have me wondering if a major re-design will be pushed off even further into the future? Why add new colors and cosmetic changes for only one year?

The upgrades they did cost very little money in the grand scheme of things and gives the illusion that the vehicle is being kept current against the competition. Adding a couple of colors, changing the tailgate & steering wheel and printing new brochures is chump change. In fact, I suspect the subtle changes are meant to push a redesign off indefinitely, until Nissan figures out if they want to kill this line or not. I think they just can't get off the fence on it, because they're afraid full-size trucks will make a big comeback and they'll be left out of the market. But in the meantime, they're doing nothing to create a strong market, so if the full-size market does ever come back (I predict it won't, but anyway), Nissan won't be poised to take advantage of it. It has been years since I've seen a Titan commercial on TV. I've had people tell me - when I'm driving my truck - that they didn't even know Nissan made a full-size vehicle.

Words spoken so true ^. Nissan does NOTHING to market the Titan. Kinda makes me think further, will they kill the re-design and blame it on prior poor sales?

I bet the small changes we are seeing with the 2013 will stay consistent with the new gen that is rumored to be announced 2014 for sale in 2015.

I am expecting a redesigned front end and overall geometry, with the new tailgate, wheels and lights, and of course the engine variations (Cummins 2.8L I4 Turbo Diesel, V8, V6??)

Re: What differences will there be in the 2013

I want a new truck, and I've been patiently waiting for Nissan to bring something to the table that would be worth it for me to do so. Sadly everything they do to the Titan makes me want it less and less. I sat in a 2012 about a month ago and I felt the quality of materials being used were lower than on my 2005. I really dislike what they did with the dash and steering wheel and tailgate on the 2013 model. I guess I was a fan of the tailgate b/c at least it was different than the other trucks on the market. I have been trying to talk myself into buying a 2012 or 2013 but I just can't do it. They aren't any better or different enough from what I have now.

I would jump ship to a different brand, but in the past two weeks I have test drove brand new Dodge Rams, F-150's, GM 1500's, and I haven't driven anything that impressed me. The Dodge was the worst of the bunch btw.

I love my truck, and I want to buy the new and improved version 2.0 of it. There are plenty of Titans on the road today, they have caught on, at least here, and especially in the used market. I think the next generation will do better in sales than the first generation, as long as they don't screw it up.

This isn't aimed at you /\ /\ but there is a LOT more to a truck than the interior panels.. There has been so much commotion about how Nissan has ruined the Titan by giving it a minivan steering wheel and a Silverado tailgate, neither of which have ANYTHING to do with the overall functionality and IMO awesomeness of the rest of the truck.

I too drove used trucks from the other three, and chose the Titan because to me it was the best overall truck.

Went back to the dealer today to ask more questions. He called Nissan directly and posed several questions... They wouldn't budge on the questions.

BUT, he did some research after I asked him before about a Titan with a diesel.

Nissan of America recently received funding from the Dept of Energy in the amount of 15 million. They asked Cummings and Caterpillar. Cummings stepped up, Caterpillar obliged but stated that they would not handle the emissions aspect of it.

So, after much research he found out that the 2014 Nissan Titan will have the option of having a 2.8 Liter (170ci) 220hp/380 pound-feet of torque Cummings Turbo Diesel four cylinder engine.

I asked where he got this info from:

2014 Nissan Titan Getting Four-Cylinder Diesel Thanks to Cummins, Department of Energy

well there you go, info on the 2014 Nissan Titan Diesel engine. It is a Cummings Turbo Diesel I-4.
