Looks like Nissan is going to get serious and offer more configurations and engines with the next Titan. I just hope they don't screw up the Titans good looks.

They should have a base model reg cab long box with the vq40 engine from the frontier.
I also think they should go totally off the wall and do an all electric model before ford or GM does.
I highly doubt they will have any larger engine than the one they have now though.
The VQ40 4.0L V6 from the Frontier sounds good as a base engine. Just add direct injection (VQ40DD??) with the 7-spd tranny borrowed from the QX56 and they can advertise it as a MPG leader and get the CAFE averages down. They already have the 7sp tranny in the QX56 so I would think this would be the best tranny to use.
The VK56VD as the top level engine would be good, but I think a mid level engine option would need to be added. They could use the VK50DD and tune it to rev lower for more lowend torque/slightly less HP for a truck application.
The small diesel would be the trump card for Nissan. This would make Nissan the first manufacturer to offer a small diesel in a half ton PU if GM doesn't steal the show with their "baby" Duramax for 2014. Of course, styling would have to be an evolution of the current truck though. They don't need a complete redesign of the body. Just do what Ford did to the F-150 for '09. Bulk it up a little bit with a higher hoodline, new grill/bumper and add bigger flares to the fenders with a new interior and that's it.

I like the VK50DD idea, I think with a 7spd automatic and the 390 hp 5.0, Nissan could go head to head with the Ford 5.0 powered F150.
VQ engines come in all shapes and sizes oversea's, as small as 2.0L with Direct injection and a turbo. They could either use the current 4.0L engine or destroke it to 3.8L, direct inject it and use the higher flowing 370Z style heads and plenum and add in the 7spd. That would make for a 300 HP base V6 that had better fuel mileage than the 4.0 V6. They could turbocharge that same engine and make 450 HP aka detuned GTR engine.
The VK60VD would be your Tundra 5.7, Chevrolet 6.2 and Ford 6.4 KILLER.

Personally I would like to see a base model . Also break up those option packages .So if a person didn't wan't keyless entry but still wanted xm and gps they could do it .As far as the engines go .I'd like to see a low pressure turbo verson of the 5.6 .Diesel well I love diesel , but with all the emissions crap they are just to expensive in every single way .Still if they do go with diesel they should use a Nissan diesel engine .Cummins is an ok engine and the word would see that if it actually had some real competition .The only reason it looks so good over the past 20 years is the crappy engines that it's competing against.
There's a psychological advantage for Nissan opting for the Cummins over an in-house deisel (should they put a diesel in at all), that being that it will seem more "American" to the uneducated. Joe critter redneck knows the Cummins name, and there's a lot to be said for that.
Just scroll to the bottom and select FULL SITE. Problem solved, took you 2 seconds.

NONE of the links on the page were working yesterday for me. My bad though, was having a Layer 7.5 problem.

That's true. The big 3 own the truck market. I get bashed by all my friends who are loyal to ford, dodge or chev. They talk about crappy Jap pickups but most of them like the Titan once they have seen mine.
The Cummins name would help buyers take Nissan seriously.
