Please know, I too like ABS and am glad it will be on the Titan, but ABS is not always best in all situations.
I loathe ABS in the snow...it drives me up a damn wall, couldn't agree more.

Hey TriKKy, I hear ya, and with you being just 20 miles farther north than I am, you even get more snow than I do...

Closer to 35 I bet. I am in Greece, about 1/2 mile from the lake.....we get even more that the city itself...but the truth is that I love it, I just hate the idiots in Rochester who feel the need to drive 5mph whenever there is any moisture on the roads (rain or snow). During the winter it takes me as long as 1.5 hours to drive the 15miles on 390N

I hear ya TriKKy, I hear ya...

I have been through about 12 winters with 2 Nissan 4x4 Hardbodies and I'm just amazed at the things I have been able to get through. But then again, I have always believed in good tires.

Nice!

I have to admit, loosing VDC because I have to have a 4x4 means nothing to me. I was going to end up with VDC because I will be getting the Big Tow package, but I suspected I would have it switched off most of the time. Now it seems I will not have to pay extra for something I don't want.

I had VDC on my 350z and I can tell you from experience that it SUCKS! There is no question that it is made for people who do not know how to drive...much like ABS brakes. The first time I took off halfway quick, I thought my car was broken. The engine stalled and the car began to almost 'buck'. This would happen if I shifted to 2nd gear quickly too. The bottom line is that if you are going fast enough around a corner or lose control enough that you NEED VDC, then you are screwed no matter if you had it or not. The other times it kicks in, it is just a pain in the ***.

Basically what I said, but I got flak over it ... anyway ... my sentiments exactly !!! First time I dropped the clutch and heard the "THUD" the first thought I had was "I wonder how I'm going to explain this to Nissan".

My preocedure for starting the Z was:

Unlock door
Get In
Start Car
Disengage VDC
Enjoy

Everytime, with out fail ... becomes habit after a while. Take a driving course, you will be a better driver for it ... not a driver that has total faith that some programmer in Japan knows how you want to drive.

While I agree with you that the side air bag package is important on the road, I disagree with your assertion that "combining the air bag package with off road 4x4s is stupid". These side curtains air bags were designed specifically for Off-Road, and are designed to stay inflated for a full six seconds, to keep you from becoming "stupider", (if you are dumb enough to roll your 4x4 down a hill when off-roading). And if you do happen to venture onto the pavement, [unlike dirt bikes, these are in fact street-legal], and get broadsided at an intersection, the side impact bags might save your life. BTW you are wrong about the nav, sunroof, etc. too. I have the side air bag pkg. on a SE with E-LOCKŪ, instead of VDC.

That's correct. VDC is the same as Active Yaw Control. Also, I read a post here that seemed to insinuate that the VDC and Traction Control are one in the same. Not true in our cases. I would consider the Active Brake Limited slip (ABL) to be traction control! And on 4X4 models, you have it both front and rear. The only thing that I can think of that differentiates true "Traction Control" (and maybe I'm wrong) is ABL doesn't cut engine power. It just uses the ABS system to detect wheelspin and directs the power to the opposite wheel. I just can't believe all the traction arguments going on here about a 4X4 vehicle with NO traction issues! No Bags with Bench?

I tried to building a 2005 Titan on the Nissan web site and discovered that the side air bags are not available with the bench seats. Could someone please confirm this??My local sales guy is telling me that I can get the side air bags with the bench, but he is about worthless when it comes to Titan knowledge. Time after time people on this forum come up with more ac curate information about titans than my sales guy.
