I was wondering if anyone here has tried this before DYI Bed Liner. Im searching new ideals after I went to a Rhino Lining Shop and was quoted 400 to do a CC Bed. Not that I am cheap just think 400 is kinda rediculous for 2 hours of total work. I would much rather pay 160 if its the same quality. Also I found today it doesnt take a rocket scientist because the shop tech couldnt even read a tape measure right. Any Input would be appreciated.
I've never seen this specific brand, but a buddy of mine did his Ram with Herculiner. It definately wasn't as good quality as Rhino or Line-X, and it eventually started pealing and fading from the sun. Personally I'd pony up the cash and do it right from the beginning. I've seen better results and reviews of Line-X than Rhino, btw.
I heard it was Line-X, but Nissan insisted that they use only a very thin coat and that Line-X advised thicker. There was a post about it here somewhere. IIRC, Line-X said they wouldn't provide it anymore after this first year because of this dispute. Kinda see a theme of sorts, the Rockford Fosgate, Rancho, and Line-X.
Sammy isnt Herculiner roll on. I have heard horror stories about Herculiner I just didnt know if Spray on would be different. And line x quoted me 450 under rails and add 65 for the rails. What are some of the prices you have paid or heard. My brother in Idaho only payed 300 on a full size 350 extended bed.

Yes it is, but I'd think you'd have just as tough if not harder time with this brand. Bed liner is some nasty stuff to work with, and I wouldn't want to mess around with it just to save a little money. This stuff doesn't exactly wash off with soap and water if you make a mistake. Plus both Rhino and Line-X have a lifetime warranty, but Line-X is nationwide versus Rhino's dealer only warranty.
I've used Herculiner in the past and had no problems. I can't say enough good things about it. If it peels or flakes, then the prep wasn't done as described. There are very specific prep instructions.
I had mine for 4 years and never had any peeling or flaking. It looked just as good as my neighbor's rhinoliner, but didn't fade as bad and wasn't as slippery when wet.
If your bed is still new, then prep is much easier. If it's all mucky and dirty, prep can be difficult.
True, the preperation is what will cause the peeling, but you can't get it near as thick as you can with the spray in liners. Rhino recommends a UV protective top coat to keep from fading.
Actually, wrong again. I applied two coats and it was at least as thick as any spray in. That's what's great about Herculiner... You can put on as many coats as you want.
And like it says in their FAQ "Herculiner sticks to herculiner better than it sticks to anything". So if you do the prep correctly, you'll have a super nice thick rollin bed at at least 1/3 the cost of a spray in. And touching up is easy too should you drop a fridge into your bed..
How many coats to get it a 1/4" thick? While you may be right (i'm not doubting you) I'd still rather have a Line-X liner than to mess with it myself, not to mention the life time warranty. But if you are a motivated do-it yourselfer then by all means, I've just seen some real nasty diy jobs.
I have a plastic drop-in that works fine for my line of work. I've seen a few nasty DIY jobs also, but a former coworker did a good job of it in his Ram with the Herculiner. He only did one coat because he only uses the bed for light duty weekend stuff. He said it was tedious work and would probably never do it by himself again. If you have the time, patience, and skill to do the application yourself then go for it.

Mine also came with a nice drop in liner. Its the nicest drop in I've had in any truck I've owned. I would like a spray in liner though. I hear very good things about the Line-X spray ins. Maybe one day I will get one and post the results.

Had Herculiner in last two truck, I use them to haul just about everything. No peeling or chipping but it did fade a bit. Otherwise ok and about $60.00 w/ rebate!

I used Herculiner on my Toyota and man it was tough. Very durable. Almost hurt to touch it. Nothing will slide around in your bed. And the only way it will come off is if you dont put enough time into preping it. When comparing it to a spray in, this is deffinitly tougher but not as clean. Herculiner is a polyeurothane. Has tiny bits of rubber in it. It is hard to keep areas from clumping but its not a huge eye sore. Just spend a day doing the job in nice warm weather, or it will never dry. Dont use Rustoleum or DupliColor's kit. Herculiner uses the same chemicals are the Notorius RhinoLiner.
