I have been reading a lot of different threads in here about drone since the woman thinks it too loud. I done the ol' maggi swap and since it has burned out a little I am getting a lot of drone around cruising speed. I don't really want to drop a lot of money into it since she don't ride in it all the time and it really doesn't bother me. I was thinking about the dumping the exhaust route. Does cutting it off after the axle make it 1. that much louder in the cab 2. correct the drone 3. make me and little family smell exhaust fumes? I just don't want to go hacking away without a little insight.
I dumped my exhaust before. It's a nice tone but you get tons of drone and vibration. I removed my cats later too and I had to repipe it due to the choking exhaust fumes inside.

1. that much louder in the cab - No
2. correct the drone - Yes
3. make me and little family smell exhaust fumes? - No
My experience was the complete opposite of Robstrevor. Stock Titan, cats gutted, I had the maggy catback system (22") installed after my rollover, HORRIBLE drone. Dealt with it for a few months while doing all the research here. Finally got the cojones to just hack it off. I lost that sweet chrome maggy tip, but the drone is all but gone. I would start small, cut off about a foot, drive it around for a bit and see how it sounds. I think I wound up cutting 16" or so off and it sounds great and now I got a stealth exhaust! I'm running a search to find my previous posts on this subject, but my network at work sux, so stand by...

I hope a UQ helps me because my aerochamber drones like a MFR.... Oh and mines dumped at the rearend so I would be careful how much you cut off your pipe..

Having 2 put on tomorrow...it drives me crazy, takes care of CIS also.
Had CIS bad with my old bullet setup but traded it for a drone monster.. I'm going to run the 3 inch pipe over the axle and then have the UQ put on then my 4.5 inch resonated tip.... If I have drone or CIS after that I might just lose it and burn it to the ground... Lmao!

Thanks for the info. I wouldn't mind resonators but thats just another trip back to the muffler shop. I was seriously considering the 'at home' cut pipe method. Resonatores are a lot cheaper than I was thinking though.

Yeah thats why I'm wondering why the fix to drone is cutting pipe off yet if you cut it off in front of the axle (dumping it) it will drone....

When they say cutting pipe off its inches off the end of the tailpipe not dumping it in front of the rear axle. Those few inchs calm the harmonics/sound waves which causes the drone in the cab. Its a trial and error type deal. I didnt wont to just go hacking inches off my new jba so I went with the $85 ultra quite beside the spare tire and it cured it. Some have put it in front of the muffler with poor results so beside the spare on a single tailpipe is the sweet spot. It has worked on anything from JBA, Magnaflow, Borla, and most of all Banks. You will have about a 20-25% tone down of the loudness and back to pre cat delete level on most catless Titan set ups.
