Problem - need to sell Titan ASAP

Guys, I could use some advice because I've decided to unfortunately sell my Titan after only owning it a couple of months. The decision is financial (I'm single and have three vehicles with a bad driving record - read speeder/California insurance rates).

My issue is that I don't know what a fair market value is for my truck. I have a 2WD LE loaded (DVD/NAV/Tow etc.) and I have the longest extended warranty as well which I can pass on to the next buyer.

What would a fair asking price be?

CC or KC?Build date?Mileage?

Blunt, that is rough, feel for you.Is your vehicle a CC or KC?Mileage?Build Date?Airbag package-lot of loaded ones have Airbag pk.
I guess you know it will be a tough sell since the dealers have the $1500 rebate, and they are selling at no better than invoice before rebate.
I would make a best guess at what the invoice price was(ignore dealer added junk, just the manu options),subtract $1500 from that, then subtract maybe $4000 from that.Add about 1/2 the cost of the warranty back to the price, and start from there. You will get killed, but no one is going to pay you close to what they can buy a new one from a dealer for.You will have to discount it about 15% at least to get a buyer. It still will be a tough sell since I see some folks have paid ~$28000 for lightly optioned 2WD CC's lately. They will look at the best price they can get a base LE CC for,and start subtracting from there.
It will look like this-
$33000 MSRP
$29000 Invoice
$27500 after rebate-and what they could get a new one for.
$24000-Realistic used selling price.Add maybe $600 for extended warranty.
You might have paid $30000+$2000 sales tax-$32000-an $8000 hit.
Most folks take a look at what they will lose at the realistic price, say no way,and ask close to what someone could buy a new one for.It never sells, and they hang onto it.
Boy,these are some depressing numbers, but with the blowout prices-.It is a rough time to sell and 04-05's coming with some usefull changes-electric slide down window etc.,Charlie PS
I have privately sold maybe 10 cars-trucks,and 35 motorcycles.Your asking price is critical-too high,no calls-and if you drop the asking price in the ad later, folks won't notice it-they will have already written you ad off.Once you get them in the door-it is all how the vehicle looks(shiny and spotless inside and out, engine bay, wheelwells etc),and your attitude, and the PRICE!!It is worth fixing everything, and even spending $100+ for that fancy Zaino stuff.Take any add ons off and sell separately-you won't get 1 cent more for them, and they will turn some folks off-especially performance stuff.I am thinking about selling my XE KC(Side airbag pk) to get a CC,so I have looked at it closely-I paid $24600 with tax in May,lucky to get $16000 now.

Or on edmunds.com for person to person, trade-in and dealership price. Basically any of the online auto sites will give you some idea and, if I'm not mistaken, edmunds does it by your local area.

from what i have experienced, the first 2 years of ownership is a direct loss in actual value of the car... due to that your pay off is probably still high, and you have physically only been paying for interest... it may be a low interest, but still, i believe the first half of the ownership you are paying almost 70% towards interest... =( sorry to say, best thing to do is check how much pay off you have left and then go from there...

I'm not familiar with CC/CW? It's the 4 door LE. The invoice for my truck on edmunds subtracting the factory incentive of $1500 is ~35,250 (not including the ext. warranty). The new buyer wouldn't have to pay as much tax and also pay gas guzzler tax (not sure about the gas guzzler one). The truck has 6k miles on it and I'll probably stop driving it as of today.

I'm pondering putitng it up for sale at $35k and see what I can do from there. I will obviously make it clear to the people who come see it the advantages to buying from me but is it really that unreasonable to your average person? The truck will have a new radio (bad reception), nav (missing disk error periodically), and brakes (wheel jitter under braking) after I take it in this week to the dealership for the factory issues I've had.

I missed responding. I can't find any sites that are showing private party sales of a truck like mine or any model for that matter. I only see dealerships selling the trucks "used" on these sites.

Dealership used asking prices frequently more than new.

Your invoice price for your CC LE 2WD is $35,000+$1500=$36500?I didn't realize the 2WD LE's could invoice that high.I checked invoice on a base LE CC
LE CC =$28113+$650 DESTINATION-$1500=$27263.You will be competing with dealers selling new CC LE'sfor $27200.Buyers will check to see what they can buy a base LE CC for,and come to you with that price in mind. You're in a tough position if you need to get near $35000 for it.

I guess you have already considered selling one of your other vehicles-an older, cheaper one would be a much easier sale?Luck,Charlie PS Dealership used asking prices are useless. One dealer is asking $18000 for a new KC XE,but $21995 for a used one-DUH!!.They frequently do this.

I think you should just advertise it at the invoice price or best offer. Your ad will look pretty good compared to those used car dealer ads. Hopefully with all the great reviews this truck has received there will be enough interest in your truck to attract a few buyers who will make decent offers. Barring any unsightly body damage, you have a lot going for you with the extended warranty, low miles, and upgraded options/style. Good luck, and if it sells for high dollar then you have added positively to the overall resale value of the Titan.

Thanks for the advice guys.

I had big plans for the truck and what I wanted to do with it but the insurance and gas milage were just pissing me off. Technically I can afford to keep everything and still breathe BUT i waste so f'ing much money on insurance that about the only thing I can do (besides the obvious of not getting anymore tickets) is to get rid of my most expensive vehicle.

The VW I owe very little on but the payment/insurance is low and the gas milage is over double what the Titan gets. The Supra is my track car and a sale of that type can take months to find the right buyer. The Supra is also cheap to keep since I own it, it gets reasonable gas milage and I don't need to insure it fully or put it on the street. The Titan is by far the most expensive of the three .

Oh well, we'll see what happens.
