I've owned four full sized trucks and the only one that wasn't an F100/F150 was the Titan. The 2004 F150 was just priced too high and the engine too weak (plus our local Ford dealer sux).

If the 2005 F150 comes out with the bigger engine I keep hearing about, then we are talking about a pretty even match up.

Wink

Don't forget, Ford is agressively discounting and has rebates up the a#@.

I too had decided on a Titan after driving both... but after going through two Nissan dealers bull ****, it just wasn't worth it. More than that, look at the posts on this site for the problems that exist with the new, first model year Titans; they're scary. And while most of the Titantalk members would have you believe the Ford pickups are falling apart, go to an F150 site; far fewer scared owners reporting bed swaps, tranny failures, leaks, bad brakes, bad stereos, etc.

I got $10k off, plus an aggressive trade-in. My F150 has 595 miles, no squeaks, rattles or rolls. Drives like a car, smooth and quiet, handsome interior.

It won't out-accellerate a Titan, but then who cares?

I have checked out the ford but not test drove it, but i did test drive the titan and didnt need to drive the ford after that. although now after reading all the problems i am considering the ford a tiny bit still.

Don't pay attention to the Ford Truck owner....

He sounds like the Ford Sales rep that tried to convince me of taking the F-150 over the Titan. I spent an hour a Ford dealership BEFORE driving the truck. After I drove it, I ran from the place and bought the Titan.

While there have been a couple of totally unacceptable experiences with Titan owners, most of the problems have been very minor and handled well by reputable dealers.

If you want to know about issues with the F-150, go here:
http://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=24
http://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=283388
http://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=284083
http://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=282554
http://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=278094

etc......

You'll find as many or more serious issues regarding the Ford as the Titan....and probably get a truck made in Mexico at that.

My minor issues (vibration that WAS fixed <check the Ford thread for their "normal" vibration issues>, radio fade, rear seatbelt, low voltage on an injector) have been dealt with by a great dealership (Deland Nissan, Deland, FL). The place you buy it really means a lot regarding your experience with your truck. A terrible dealership and service department (like Daytona Beach Nissan) will make you hate your truck. A great service department will help you realize that vehicles get more and more complicated to build. There are going to be issues but that is what warranties and service departments are for.

I am VERY happy with my Titan and think that for a year ONE or year FIVE production ,they did a great job. There are no more issues with the Titan than a Tundra. Some $hit is going to happen.

A co-worker of mine just got a lariat crew cab F-150, leather int. etc. said he paid 28K, original sticker was 40k. Does ride nice but really is a turd in the power dept. Also after being so use to the titan the gas pedal in the F150 felt really funny, and very unresponsive even in park. Also the titan Crew has alot more room in the back seat area and the seats in the titan seem a little more laid back then the ford. I thought the sides of the bed on the titan where high, but the ford makes it basically impossible unless your 7ft. tall to put anything into the bed from the side. Obviously you can get a ford cheaper now than a titan, but I think you will get that money back in resale value, after all fords have a very poor resale value.IMHO Looks wise parked side by side I think the titan blows the ford away, to me the ford already looks 5 years old.

You guys crack me up.

Really. I always look for responsiveness of the engine while in park. Really. I can tell you that while not as quick as the Titan, it can move. And, if mildly mod'd, like most of the titans on this board, it'll chirp in 2nd and 3rd gears. In other words, it'll move for a 5500 # truck.

And you're are correct, the bed sides are way tall. So what? At least my bedliner is not peeling or bubbling.

As for curb appeal, the Titan has a different look... it takes a couple of minutes to get it. The F150 has the broad-shouldered look of an Oklahoma fullback. It's clean lines impact you immediately.

Hey just my .02, but I'll pass on the kool-aid.

My f150 runs fine and I hope your Titan does as well. If the Nissan dealers in my area weren't such scamsters, I'd be driving a Titan too. BUT, reading posts on this site, it's like a bunch of high school boys with their vehicles that can do no wrong.

I guess that is why it was motor trend truck of the year huh?

ColoTitan,

I'm a current 97 Z71 owner and waiting to see what reports come from the 05 owners...I think we should remember the Titan reviews came out prior to the customer complaints.

Hi Prerunner,
I thought that the FX4 did not ride nearly as good as the Titan it seemed really stiff and bumpy and for something that makes 90% of it's tourque at 1K RPM it sure is a weak vehicle but that is just my opinion.

I really don't think you can make a fair comparison especially since you have less than 600 miles on your truck.
I have 12,000 miles on mine and the only problem has been the radio fade thing, which I still haven't had fixed by the way b/c it's really not that big of a deal to me.
I didn't want my truck to ride like a car, after all it is a truck and I think it should ride like a truck. I think it rides smoother than my 4x4 Tacoma did. And personally I like that subtle roar coming out of the exhaust.
Anyway I hope you have good luck with your truck and glad you like it, different strokes for different folks ya know.

Dragkaw, you could be right as I only got to ride shotgun in his and the feeling from not driving holding the wheel is a bit different, plus my old-man drives like ,well, an old man. A side note to all new f-150 owners, you have the same front brakes as us. Just so happenes the dealer I bought mine from is also a ford dealer, both trucks have the same brake issues.

My 1st choice was the F-150, but after being jerked around by a salesman 1/2 my age, "gave me a price, and then went up $800 when I went to close the deal", I drove the Titan, and am glad I did.

My current vehicle is an 02 Tahoe Z71. I bought it brand new, and my fiance drives is 95% of the time. It has been in the shop for more stupid things than any other vehicle I have ever owned even my POS dodge durango. Needless to say I like the F-150 interior better and that's about it. I am either getting an 04 or waiting for the 05's. Any first year vehicle i bound to have some problems, nissan and ford both. The ford is having some unidentified driveline virbation...
