2004 F-150 vs. Titan

I think the F-150 is the closest competitor to the Titan. Spec wise on paper these trucks are pretty close as far as dimensions and engines etc., with the Titan having the upper hand with the 5 speed tranny. What are your thoughts on the F-150 vs. Titan?

I wanted an F 150 but the price was way to much for the same truck that i have now. If they would come down i would be driving a ford. There is a lot more aftermarket following.

I wanted a Ford screw similiary equipped as my KC 4X4. After driving them back to back (along with the dodge hemi) the Titan was the clear choice. The F-150 5.4 motor was a dog. However, I did think the F-150 ride was more comfortable and "car like." I am happy with my choice. I have had my last two trucks a combined 14.5 years and they were a Ranger and F-150.

i liked the ford when i test drove it (we had to stay on the lot because the gas gauge was below E)

but anyway, it's a bit overpriced for what you get. the titan def offers more bang for the buck. critter

I could have gotten the '04 FX4 extended cab that was stickering at $36,000 for $29,000 on the z-plan with rebates. I still went with the Titan for $31,000! It was worth it to me to spend a little more $ and get a better truck. People are trying to compare the F-150 and the Titan together, but if you drive them back-to-back there really is no comparision.

I agree totally. I test drove the F-150 and was set....until I finally took the Titan out. The power isn't even close between the two. My buddy got an F-150 and after riding in my Titan, he went out and put a dual exhaust and CAI in his because he noticed the difference. The funny part to me is I think the Titan actually rides better. Just feels more solid.

I can get a Titan lariat supercrew loaded up. the sticker on it is around 41-42 and i can get it for about the same price as i can get a le cc 4x4 with sunrood, dvd, airbag tow, and mats: 30500-31500. I have checked out the ford but not test drove it, but i did test drive the titan and didnt need to drive the ford after that. although now after reading all the problems i am considering the ford a tiny bit still.

No comparison IMO, spending all that money and time that Ford did and coming out with a horrible power-train. The 2004 f-150 is a waste of money.

Check on the http://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/index.php forum, specifically the F-150 forum. They have issues also.

My father bought an '04 fx4 ext. cab w/leather last sat. for $31,000 out the door. That is a good deal. He still calls my titan an import, he just doesnt get it. Naturally after he got it home I had to run over and start comparing. The strangest thing is how simalar they really are. Even the dash layout is almost the same. The Titan just flat kills the f150 in power. But I think "most" people will like the ride and handling of the f150 better, its more car-like. Obviously, I like my truck alot better, but they are both great trucks.

I had the chance to drive a co-worker's F150 the other day to lunch. Had some nice interior touches. There were definitely more blind spots. The side pillars seemed to be more forward than the Titan's. I really appreciate my tow mirrors now... Acceleration wasn't as strong.

Looked hard at the F150 before choosing Titan. IMHO, I think the F150 highway ride is much better, but Titan handles better. Power and fun quotient - no contest, Titan all the way. In car analogy, F150 is like driving a cruiser, Titan a sports car. Unique features of Titan like bedliner and utilitrac. set it apart. I like the Titan interior slightly better. More backseat room in CC than even the F150, but they are close. If the F150 were cheaper and had more power, it would be a tough choice. If the Titan had a better highway ride, it would be no contest. Just my$.02 worth.
