Side curtains and car seats

I talked to a guy the other day who said he called the NHTSA and they told him to disingage the rear side curtain airbags when you have kids in car seats back there. Has anyone else heard this??? I just found their number (1-888-327-4236), maybe I will give them a call. I kinda thought the whole reason to get rear side curtains would be for kids in car seats.

BS-you can't-and why would you?

He is spinning some Unadulterated BS-sounds like he misunderstood .You can't D/C the side Curtains(yeah, you can with some wire cutters, but there isn't any switch),and why would you? They are up fairly high, and they aren't blasting into someone's face and chest like a front AB,so it wouldn't make any sense(as you pointed out) to D/C them.If they were a big risk for kids,we would have heard of it.Luck,Charlie
