The other day I noticed that the truck won't let you past about 110mph. I rarely go that fast but it would be nice to see what the trucks got in it. Anyone know of a way to get rid of the limiter, something like a Hypertech programmer?
You guys are right, I know its not safe but I was wondering what it could do. I go over 195mph on my race bike every weekend and I guess I am just a speed freak, 114mp feels like 65 to me now.
I have had the truck up to 100 on a straight open road with lights flashing and trust me, that is fast enough for this truck. I can and have driven fast in other vehicles (Ferrari 308s and 318s come to mind) but with the tires on this beast and with the weight of it, trying to stop fast from that speed is enough to make you need to change your pants.

although I dont personally have an interest going that speed in truck, I could have sworn someone a while back found a speed limiter bypass module for titan and posted link.
Keep in mind I spend half my summer at the track so speed and car control are not things that are foreign to me.
On my 3rd test drive I had the Titan up to about 107, going up hill. I let off only because I knew the road and I was going to be flying into a limited sight section.
Although I agree with the fact that going 114+ mph on those tires in a vehicle of that weight, height and soft suspension is a rather strange/bad idea; I can understand the need to ask the question.

Yeah, I got it up to 114 just to find out where the limiter was. Not smart, but on an interstate with no one around, and a long flat section. Yeah, it was a bad idea, but I also race bikes at 170+ on the weekends, and fly a supersonic jet fighter, so a hundred seems like sitting still to me.
Good point on the stock tires, not really rated for that speed.

Think about it - In this sue happy country, you have to protect yourself. If you put a vehicle out there, would you set the governed speed right at it's limit? Not me. To be safe, I would set that limit far below the full potential of the vehicle. I would expect the Titan could exceed the governed limit by at least 25%, within it's mechanical capabilities. Just like the public education system where they can only learn as fast as the slowest student, we have to put up with the limitations designed for the least competent drivers. Why is it that the Autobahn has a lower death rate than the Interstate system but the ability to travel at much higher speeds? How come when many states reduced their Interstate speeds to 65mph several years ago, the death statistics actually increased?
An unsafe speed is a matter of opinion. Police reports will show plenty of people killed at less than 35mph. Does that mean we should make the max limit in the country to 35 mph? I agree that even one death is unacceptable. I feel we as a country need to severly revamp the driving tests and require mandatory drivers training. 1/3 if not more, of those drivers out there, should not have been allowed to obtain a license. It's pretty scary when the government targets a small percentage like firearms but will allow just about anybody out there to legally operate a motorized vehicle. Which kills more? Automobiles by far. If you don't feel like exceeding your comfort zone due to your abilities, that is your right but don't criticize those that have comfort zones and abilities higher than yours.
I'm done. Now will somebody serve me some of that humble pie?

ill take this comment one step further. i also believe that there are too many older people on the road that have no business being behind the wheel. now, i know this is going to really stir the pot. however, im not saying that you can be too old to drive. what i am saying is that everybody knows that the older we get, the slower our reaction time and how vision (for the most part) tends to deteriorate. all im proposing is that when you reach age 65 you should have to take a driving test. then again at 70. following that every 2 years until 80. then every year after. "so what about the cost of these tests," you might ask, "that will get expensive for retired people" ive heard some people say. well, you could reduce the cost of these retests by half or take half the money and put it into a state/national older person driving education fund.
