Size of signatures.... I've had enough.

I really don't want to anger anyone here, but I have a peeve with this board which has grown as people add more and more mods to their trucks. I sent a PM to ekool about this last week.... it was unanswered.

Before I rant, let me state that I am proud of my titan, and everything that I have added to it. I am not trying to get banned for posting this, but if the mods feel it is neccessary, then be it. I asked ekool, and he ignored me.

[RANT ON]
I am geting really sick of the length of the signature areas on this board. As people are adding more and more to their trucks, they are compelled to add more and more single lines to their signatures detailing items such as window tint, floor mats, splash guards..... Some owners have had their trucks for almost a year now, and they also are listing all mods along with big pictures. Chris(CaliforniaTitan)-- No offense intended, but you have a huge signature. When I browse the forums in the evening on my 2yr old laptop, which has a max 640x480 resolution, your current signature--by itsself, not including what you've posted--takes up 1 & 3/4 pages as I press the page down button. Other signatures that I've noticed that were text only, were 23 lines of text.
[/RANT OFF]

There are options for signature length. Vbulletin software offers image galleries--but not available on our forum(yet). There are smaller font sizes for signature text. There doesn't need to be separate lines for the options displayed in the signature. As Emeril says when he rips a knob off one of his stoves-when complaining about people not knowing that there are multiple heat settings on a stove..."that's whey they make [ad-lib-on] the comma key [ad-lib-off] on these things" .

Flame me if you will, ban me if you will, but it had to come up sometime.....

Oh oh. Here it comes Jaohn. Prepare to duck. It has come up before, and its never a pretty sight. It is worse than the Bush/Kerry debates going on here. I'm staying out of it.

I agree with the guy. Some of the signatures are a little excessive IMHO. But to each his own.

I can duck pretty well, but when the board owner declines a PM on the issue, then I had to throw it up toward the community. I am not against signatures, But I think that there should be a limit on signatures.

Mike H., I have not problems with your signature, and if you also included a "banner" style pic to your signature --maybe 200 pixels tall-- I would still have no issues. But when I have to press page down 2 times between posts in a thread to see the next message, then I grow disinterested.

The owner of this board is also the owner of a number of other boards and is probably either busy and hasn't seen your PM or he might actually be out of town on vacation.

Why don't you chill out a little and change your personal options to not show the signatures. It would seem that this owuld solve your problem and also increase the speed of downloading the messages.

In case you cannot figure it out yourself, on the upper right of the page is a menu. One of the options on that menu is USER CP. Select that and then on the next menu that appears select Edit Options. Scroll down the page (on your laptop it will probably take a couple of page downs) until you see Thread Display Options. Under this topic is an option to Show Signatures. If you are really upset about the whole signature size thing, uncheck that box and scroll down to the bottom of the page and select Save Options.

You see, instead of complaining and ranting, next time ask nicely.

If Ekool decides not to limit the length of the signatures, that is his choice. He owns the servers and he is free to determine how much space each person is allocated. Remember you are not paying for this forum so you have absolutly no say in how it is run.

Hopefully you will be happy after you turn off the signature option, but if not there is not much we can do.

I believe that we have a mature member group here, maybe we can all vote on a max length for a sig before the mods/admins have to get invovled. On Nissanforums.com we enforced a 4 line sig.

at a low resolution, your short post and signature pics take up basically a full screen. Here's a full screen capture of that post @640x480....

Jaohn,

I agree that the sigs can be annoying, especially if the
member is posting several times on the same thread.
I would suggest unchecking the show signature in the
options, at least after their first post.

John(eKool) doesn't post here everyday, so you may
not have given him enough time to reply. Maybe Chris
and some of the mods can get with him and see if the
sigs need to be limited at this point.

Don't feel reluctant to speak up and give your opinion
on this site. Many will strongly disagree with what you
say, but will respect your right to say it. Just keep it
clean.

Roy, I had asked ekool, and his non-answer for a week lent me to a slight rant.

I, and evidently others, have not ralized that we have the option to turn off the display of signatures. I will now be taking care of that oversight on my part.

My apologies. I asked, I waited, I did nto get an answer. So, I asked the community of others were experiencing the same frustration.

Now you have clarified the answer in that we had the option ourselves, and I appreciate that.

Thank You--
Bill

Ok lizardking let me splain...He has a computer so old that a messenger pigeon could get emails out faster. His computer is a slug and he is on a site for Titan owners but doesnt want to see their mods. J/K
But seriously, if you dont like it, there are other titan forums aroiund that have very small or no signatures at all.
Where are these long sigs at anyway?

My $0.02... If you can afford a Titan, you can afford a computer (or monitor/video card)that will support a much higher resolution.

My appologizes if you are sight impaired and need that resolution to see text.

//Rant On//
I personally don't have a signature because I think it is rediculous to put things like mud flaps, carpet, and 4 doors in a signature! When I make a major mod it will be in a signature. Most people know what the common options are. Unless the truck is lifted, painted a different color, or has a mod that is visible, don't make it part of your signature. We all know what a stock Titan looks like!
//Rant Off//

Thank you...
