Hey guys the metal you all are using for the grill mod.....is it pretty much flat? I found some stuff from work that I thought was the same and now I can't get the grill halfs to snap back together.....like not even close....only thing I can think of is that it's too thick. Which could have been evident based on the fact that even an air grinder didn't want to cut through it
that explains it if it's flat....mine is raised where the joints meet.....ughhhh a week working on this thing now I gotta start all over.....that's what I get for trying to use stuff I got for free
I'd probably have to sand down the lips on the back of the grill cover a little bit at a time.....wouldn't take much for the perimeter clips but the 4 clips in the middle of the grill would take a LOT lol......for $20 i'll just go buy the metal and I'll just use the pieces I have cut already as a template
Lay it down, mark the whole outline with a sharpie. Laid the metal down on a thick, firm carpet square, and used an angle grinder with a cutoff wheel. This is much much faster then the first time I did it, with sheet metal scissors.
You can get good powder-coated grill material from this site- http://www.customcargrills.com/
Mine has held up very well and was easy to fit. I tried the home depot route first, but this stuff looks better.

i used angle grinder as well, even to remove the honeycomb, but a sawsall would have worked better on the honeycomb i think
wish i would have known about that, i paid to have my pieces powder coated before i installed, this probably would have been a cheaper route with more grill options
