I Was Just Wondering If Anyone Had Tried To Put A Differnt Type Of Antenna On The Titan To See If That Helps Fm Reception. My Father In Law Has A Toyota With The Same Weird Twisted Wire Coated With Rubber Antenna And He Says He Doesn't Get Good Reception Either. I Was Going To Try The Antenna On My Old Truck Before I Sold It But I Couldn't Figure Out How To Take The One Off The Titan, And Never Did It.
that's great but if it doesn't get good reception then maybe they need to try something else. Has anyone tried a different antenna on the titan to get better reception? My old truck had a metal antenna (that didn't whistle in the wind) and it would pull in stations with the factory unit and an aftermarket a lot better.
I bought a flexible rubber mast antenna at Pep Boys for about 19.00. I have used it on two vehicles now (a Ford Escape and now the Titan). Reception seems to be as good as the stock antenna.

Sooooo that means as bad as the stock antenna. Right.

Surprisingly, other than the rear seat belt strangulation and the molding on the driver side passenger door coming loose, I have had no issues whatsoever with about 5K miles (build date 6-17-04). My radio works great and I have no fade issues. Even the volume difference between CD and FM is not as bad as most have reported. I also get the AM stations pretty well.
The twisted wire is designed to stop the antenna from whistling in the wind.
I wish Nissan would fix the standard side mirrors to stop whistling when going down the interstate. You can hear the wind noise through the closed window.

My mirrors are Big Tow model...they don't whistle at all.

no whistle from my big ones either but a cool thing about them is if you point them at the ground the truck will lift in the air at 80 mph

You mioght want to check/blame your window visors. I had almost no wind noise till I put them on.

Same here. Have the BT mirrors and the only thing that whistles in my truck is me (not very well I might add!).

I also want to get one of those low antennae. I hate having to take it off every time I go to the carwash. My Tahoe had the same antenna and it looks really crappy after a few carwashes and long trips....started to get rather bowed.

Your right, it is the angle of the ventvisor that opposes the design of the window. In other words, "it sticks too far out."

I have limp sounding FM on most of the band except for one local station that sounds awesome. From this I deduced that either the front end of the radio was not very sensitive and discriminating or there is a reception problem or maybe both. I have no tools to address the sensitivity issue other than the retuning procedure I did a while ago which did help ( jet tech). So I checked the antenna and first of all, found it was not screwed on the stud all the way. I removed it and bead blasted the female threads and took a brass brush to the stud. After reassembling it I have to honestly say it improved my reception 50%. Now its more like any other vehicle I have had in the past than before.
Oh and also to prevent moisture from attacking the clean threads, I put an "O" ring over the stud and ran the antenna down onto it.
