The advantages of a drop-in are:
1. They cost less.
2. They can be easily removed.

The advantages of a spray-in are:
1. Takes up less space in the bed. You end up with more cargo room.
2. Does not trap water and debris like a drop-in.
3. Will not rub the paint off the truck like a drop-in.
4. Spray-ins can be repaired.
5. Most of the major brands offer a lifetime warranty.
6. You can get spray-ins in various colors.
7. Spray-ins provide a permanent water tight seal.
8. Spray-ins help with sound deadening.
9. Spray-ins do not rattle like some drop-ins.

The cost of spray-ins varies per brand and dealer. Our regular retail price for LINE-X for a Titan (black liner, under the rails) is $379.

Hope that helps!

As an additional point of information, I brought home a stack of sheetrock today. I have the Nissan drop in plastic liner. I was concerned about width between the wheel wells but no problemo, there is room to spare for 4' wide sheets of anything. Drop the tailgate and you have plenty of support too. I still like a full 8' truck bed but the rest of this terrific truck makes up for the loss. I like the drop-in unit, as it's what I was used to in my old truck. Can pound the heck outta it and it will take some of the shock before it gets to the steel bed. Still, I do really like the sprayed in coatings from a pure aesthetics and maximum space utilization standpoint. The drop-ins look...well...dropped in...like an afterthought. Both approaches work pretty darned well.
