Talking Sliding overhead rack and Thule attachments(works great for fishing poles)

The overhead rack tubes are the same shape as the Xterra and crew cab pick up with factory installed racks. I have found that the following thule racks fit the overhead rack.

Thule The Stacker (830) Kayak Racks
Thule 725 Flat Top Ski & Snowboard Racks with C37 clamp

The ski rack works great to carry my fishing poles.

When I find what else works I will let everyone know.

Thanks! I'm looking for some brackets that will hold my canoe in place without it sliding all over.

I guess no one has the use of carrying fishing poles. I am glad I found that it works for me,I am going surf fishing next week for a week and now my poles will be safe and secure. I am towing a travel trailer to a Hither Hills in Montauk. I will let everyone know how it towed.

Re: Sliding overhead rack and Thule attachments(works great for fishing poles)

The Thule 835XT works as well on the over-head rack system. I didn't use the bolts that came from the factory, I purchased 5/16" x 31/2" Stainless with molded plastic thumb nuts.

floridatitan - do you have any pics of your Thule 835xt in action? do you need to buy any other parts besides what is included in the 835xt to attach it to the overhead racks?

Thumbs up Re: Sliding overhead rack and Thule attachments(works great for fishing poles)

I realize that this is an old thread, but it really helped me out, so I wanted to post some pics to help others. With just $5.84 at the local Ace hardware store, I was able to attach my Thule 835XT Hull-A-Port carriers to my Titan's overhead racks. I've been carting the 'yaks all over the place for the past couple of days.

I believe the factory bolts were M6's, but I removed them and used 4.5-inch long 1/4 bolts with washers and wingnuts. This worked like a charm...and I'm a very happy boy! I tried the Horizontal Mighty Mounts with the Yakima carriers, but they didn't seem very stable. They are now on Ebay. I've always loved the stability of the Hull-A-Ports, so this was the best solution for me.
