Have you seen the Undercover tops?

Undercover(TM) makes an excellent top that I'm getting for the '05 Titan. It's black, low profile, light, lockable, and will work with the Utilitrac system. It will be available by the end of September. It's the nicest top I've seen.

those look nice and light. they are cheaper than the fiberglass ones also. if/when you get one, post some pics.

A friend of mine has the Undercover Tonneau Cover on his Silverado, and he loves it. He tells me his truck bed has never been drier and he apparently has tried other tonneau covers in the past. This is definitely the cover I plan to get, I like the lightweight feature and for me, I want a black cover not a body painted one.

I just love this picture...

I bought a roll top cofer, low pro, from retrax company out of north dakota over the internet. I would highly reccoment you check it out. Looks good, you con roll it back with your pinky finger if you wanted to, very easy. Durable too. Plus hasn't leaked once yet (except when I get the pressure washer out), But other than that, all day rain, heavy torential rains whatever, seems to be good so far.

Did you have the Retrax on a Titan? If so did you have Utilitrack? How was the install? Photos?

Blaze again,

This is to answer a question to a few replies back. YES I have the Retrax cover on the Titan. YES I have the utilitrack system. It installes with four allen wrench bolts you need to drill in through the bed rail (not the utilitrack, but the actual bed rail). It took about 2 hours, but the pain in the butt thing is that the front mounting bolts are a pain, because you have to get your fingers in such a small area to start the nut, but also to find a wrench small enough to tighten it was difficult. All in all, once I was done I was happy. Also the only maintenance so far is that I take a bit of tri-flow, or wd-40 and wipe the inside of the rails every other month or when it seems sticky.

The Web site is www.rolltopcover.com

When I get home from work tomorrow morning i'll take some pics and try to figure out how to post them.

P.S. I forgot to mention that with the utili-track system you need to remove the rear stops on the track. This is because you can't turn the tie downs on 90 degrees because of the rool top cover rails. However you can slide them on and lock them down where you need them from the back. Also on the drivers side is where the locking mechanism is. If you have a tie down in the util-track rail and you go to close the roll-top, the locking mechanism can hit the tie- down. It may take a bit of nugging to get it closed.

I got this email on the status of Undercover Tonneau's:

Hi Aaron,
I just talked to the designers. Because of trying to make the hardware work with the Utili-track, the cover is taking a little longer to come together than earlier anticipated. The latest schedule shows the cover should be ready for the Crew Cab by the middle September.

These development plans can change every couple of weeks based on what they uncover during the development process. The plant and designers shifted gears and now it looks like both covers will come out at the same time as they will share the same cover, just the attachment hardware will be different. So they needed to make sure the cover fits for both hardware sets at the same time. That being said,

Below is the latest schedule for covers to be made for the Nissan Titan:

Nissan Titan Crew Cab (without Utili-Track System) – September 2004
(Those with Utili-Track Systems would need to remove the Utili-Track to be able to install this cover model)

Nissan Titan Crew Cab Cover (for trucks with Utili-Track System) – September 2004.

Nissan Titan Ext. Cab (for trucks without Utili-Track System) – December 2004

Nissan Titan Ext. Cab (for trucks with Utili-Track System) - December 2004

This is the latest and most realistic estimate for bringing these products to market. Hopefully their development will be quicker than the schedule above, but as of now, this is the most accurate schedule we can put forward.

The reason for the extra time between the 2 Titan Crew Cab Models (one with the Utili-Track and the one without): Custom, low profile hardware designed to take as little space as possible on the track will need to be designed, developed, and mass produced from scratch. This is why the extra 30-60 days added to the development of the cover for the Crew Cab with the Utili-Track System. Once that hardware is developed it will also work on the Nissan Titan Ext. Cab versions. However, we have shifted the development timing of the Titan Ext. Cab cover because the demand is much less than anticipated and lags behind the demand for other truck models that are currently vying for priority in the development schedule.

The cover will install perfectly over the side rail and tailgate protectors that come with your Nissan (as well as all bedliners).

All of our Titan covers will come in the same satin black finish that is designed to match the trim on your truck and the price for the Titan cover will be the same as our other covers ($599.00). If the shipping promotion of $58.00 to any business address in the U.S. is suspended prior to the release of these covers, VersaCover will honor the $58.00 shipping promotion for those Nissan Titan owners as you are now recorded on our waiting list. As soon as these covers are released, those who are on the VersaCover Titan waiting list (such as yourself) will be notified immediately. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us by phone or email at anytime.

Again, thank you for your continued interest in VersaCover!

Regards,
Mark

Versa Cover is spreading pure BULL KUKKA!!!!

I just got off the phone with Undercover (the mfg) and they ARE NOT scrapping the plans for the Titan with utilitrack. It will hopefully be in warehouse by the end of December. If you dont believe that call them for yourselves....

I cant WAIT to get this lid....I had one on my supercrew and it was WAY better than the advance cover (I had one of those too). It should be worth the wait.

My understanding when I talked to Undercover a few weeks ago was that one type (I think for the Crew Cab) would be available this month and the King Cab was in December. It's the best top I've seen.
