How much are people spending on the extended warranty and for how long?

i got the 60k gold for $0. it is part of the dealer incentive on leased vehicles. they include it with the deal. normally, you would think that it means they rolled it into the cost of the vehicle, but i think that would be hard because i got such a great deal to begin with. all i know is that it was a suprise to me at the paper signing, and i thought "what the hell? i didn't ask for that." The finance officer said it was included. They also got my licence plates for me (i had to pay for them, but they did the transfer and paperwork) i got my registration from the BMV a couple weeks later.

I go t the 60K gold prefered for 801.00 - cost plus a dollar. They offer it at 1000+ I told them I could get it cheaper on-line. After detailing my truck, as I was pulling off the lot the finance manager came running out to offer it to me for cost plus a dollar at 801.00

First, there are so many available warranties. We offer warranties from 4 different companies. If you are going to warranty a New Nissan, it is highly recommendable that you warranty you’re Nissan through Nissan, which is good anywhere in the USA. They are the most reliable and financially viable option for Nissan Owners. I see many prices posted thus far. First you must consider what the extent of coverage is. I see some price quotes that are, whether they realize it or not, the Gold (no roadside assistance) and not the Gold Preferred. BUYER BEWARE OF .COM WARRANTIES, even if they are slightly more affordable.

The Nissan Security Plus – Gold Preferred is an exclusionary warranty. In other words, they provide the consumer with a list of items; NOT COVERED. This takes the mystery our of the old fashioned line item list of covered parts and labor which confuses the average consumer. The items that are not covered under this plan are considered to be normal maintenance items, things that wear and tear under normal driving conditions. It’s a rather small list compared to other offered warranties. The Gold Preferred also covers belts and hoses; these are items considered by most to be wear and tear items. You also get roadside assistance with the Gold Preferred, a service NOT otherwise offered under Nissan’s Limited Warranty (Standard Warranty Coverage without the purchase of the extended coverage). Here are some prices we offer through us, if interested you can contact me through the email below.

2004 Nissan Titan; 60 Months 100,000 Mile Gold Preferred… $50 Ded/$977
2004 Nissan Titan; 72 Months 100,000 Mile Gold Preferred… $50 Ded/$1262
2004 Nissan Titan: 84 Months 100,000 Mile Gold Preffered… $50 Ded/$1515

Beware of dealer sales spins! I would agree with the dealers comments NOT all .coms are legit. That is why I have recommended two .coms that have a know track record. Yes, the dealer is going to try and sell you on the reliability of Nissian and Nissian parts why? That is their only value proposition. Do you need roadside assistance you may already get it via your insurance company! Yes, they are good across the USA BUT look at the contract - Only at a Nissan shop, what will happen if you are in a frontier town with no Nissian shop? What if the shop that is closest to you has poor customer service? GOOD third party warranties allow you to use a shop of your choice not all of them will require you to use their shop OR after market parts. Dealers will tell you this in an effort to spin you their way. Ask them both, dealer or third party for a copy of the agreement before you make a decision NOT the glossy brosure they try and pass off as a contract, you know the one that has the disclaimer on the back, where the average Joe does not look that says "THIS BROCHURE IS NOT A CONTRACT. THE BROCHURE CONTENT IS LIMITED BY SIZE. THE ENTIRE CONTRACT IS INCLUDED IN THE NISSIAN SECURITY+PLUS SERVICE AGREEMENT". The contract will lay out EXACTLY what you are getting the things that the Finance department will not tell you becasue they usallly have not ever even read it! The dealer usally does NOT want to show you a copy of this agreement. I have on several occasions had the finance department give me and others a strange look when asking for it!

I also have to correct what I got, looking at my contract and purchase agreement I got the Nissan Security Plus – Gold Preferred for 879.00 supposidly cost plus a dollar a far cry from the 1000+ they quoted first then dropped to 995.00, before I walked and they chased me down as I was pulling off, to offer it for 879.00. I also got in writing that if I never use the warrenty for any repair they will refund it in FULL!

look at BOTH agreements and make a decison that works for YOU. Take your time an weigh your options. I did buy the Nissian Warrenty but only after they offered a COMPETITIVE price and the written refund if I never used it!

Good Luck!

buzz11,

Thanks for leads.

Some link or search lead me to
http://www.extended-warranty.info/autowarranty/

Covers and gives links to several. Re WD stated:

Warranty Direct is the consumer division of Interstate National Dealer Services, one of the nation's oldest and largest auto warranty companies. Their coverage is sold by over 2,200 auto dealers, banks and credit unions all across the US. This 25 year old company has sold well over 1.5 million extended auto warranty contracts and have been named to the Forbes Magazine list of the "Top 200 Small Companies in America" 3 times. They sell a wide variety of contracts and their greatest strengths are the quality of their insurer and their tenure in the industry. They also participate in the BBBOnLine Reliability program and have zero complaints covering a period of the past 12 months (as of July 2004). Edmunds.com has selected Warranty Direct as their exclusive auto warranty partner.

Mileage: Vehicles with up to 60,000 odometer miles can obtain coverage until they reach 125,000

After looking over WD and 3 others coverages, would definitely go with WD based of cost of SecureCare Plus / optional Emissions coverage, 7 Years / 100,000, $50 deductible at $1160. $0 deductible would be $1310, $100 ded. $1035.

They will also finance at $1,195.00 - $348.00 Down and 10 monthly payments of $84.70 each - each payment includes a $3.50 service fee.
Or $1,170.50 - $290.00 Down and 3 monthly payments of $293.50 each.

Main cost/values:
1. The optional emissions coverage of + $150 over the 7/1000,000 - can get without for the $150 less.
2. Car Rental Reimbursement of up to $30 per day for a maximum of 8 days per occurrence - longer term - 8 days - than the others.
3. Travel Interruption Protection - $75 per day for up to 3 days per ccurrence for lodging and meals. Not as much coverage as some of the others - but at least has.
4. Roadside Assistance - 24/7 - tow, flat tire changed, door unlock, gas - about same as others.

So, mainly being able to add 1. for 'only' $150 and getting 8 days of coverage 2.

Plus transferable for $50.
And, as with most all this type, can take to most convenient repair facility, if Nissan dealership not close at hand.
