Advice wanted

Hey folks. I am in need of some advice. I am currently drooling over a 2004 Titan LE CC Offroad pkg, Big Tow, yada, yada. I can buy this truck now or wait until the 2005's come out and pay more. I am fed up with my current truck and wanted to trade it in on the Titan before I have to replace the tires on it. All things considered, JD Powers puts the Titan at a low rating for initial quality for the Titan and Nissan is working hard to change some of the design flaws so the 2005's will be able to meet the Powers criteria (or so I have read). IF you were in my shoes, would you wait or buy now? The only real issue I have with the Titan I am looking at currently is that it is not the color I want, but I like it well enough. THanks much in advance for any feedback.

Well... I just bought on Friday, a 2004 Titan LE King Cab 4x4 fully loaded....

I LOVE IT, and got a great deal! Was a pain to get, all of the trucks in GA are 2 wheel drive...had to have it shipped from Alabama (cause I didnt want White...ended up with Black)

If I were you I would buy now that the prices on Titan are great. As soon as the '05 come out, the '04 will not be priced as low. I would jump on one now. Also, have you seen the list of changes for the '05 models? If not, do a search you'll find them and see that there is really nothing that makes me trade in for an '05 (with the exception of the tail gate assist).

Oh btw, if you don't find the color that you like, DON"T buy it. You will regret it in the long run and kick yourself everytime you see your truck.

I'd wait. In terms of features, there might not be many obvious improvements with '05 vs. '04. However, Nissan claims they've redesigned hundres of parts to address many of the quality issues that surfaced. They are subtle changes which wouldn't be mentioned in the brocures but probably affect fit & finish, functionality, and reliability. What I don't know is whether those changes are already reflected with the late '04 models... I would imagine '05 would be built with all the improved parts. Good luck!

If money is no object, wait. Prices in my area, plus the $2000 rebate, are nice. Just picked up mine, 08/04 build. I think, make myself believe, many problems have been addressed. No problems with the intial quality. Just hit the big 3-0-0 today so we will see. How many thousands of owners do we not get a chance to here from? There are many happy owners on this forum.

Mine was built 8/04 also. I have had it for 2 weeks. 2000 miles and so far so good. Only 2 problems

1.) Rattle on drivers side. Fixed by applying WD-40 to the bushing where the body meets the frame under the drivers side floor board

2.) Map holder pocket came apart. Put it back together and it has stayed together so far.

Cool

I would say wait...but ONLY to get the color you really want. It makes NO sense to settle on a 30k plus purchase! As for the "upgrades", anything wrong with an 04 can/will be properly repaired by the dealer under warranty. And anything I've heard about was minor anyhow.
So if you HAVE to have it now, go ahead but.....as mentioned earlier, you may be sorry you didn't wait for the color of your liking. Just my opinion.

just check the build date, there are some memebers on here with build dates as late as Septemeber. if its a later date you are less likely to have problems as they ahve fixed most of their Quality issues.......

personally, im waiting for an 05, i think that they few creature comforts are worth the wait.

Hmmm. Thanks. I forgot to find out the build date, but the more I think about it, I really want the Canteen green color. I am definitely getting a Titan, as they say "It ain't IF, its WHEN!". Thanks very much.

I found out that the Deepwater LE CC I was looking at is a May 04 build date. Any forseeable problems there?

Take the plunge - you'll be glad you did

I was in your same position and went with the 2004. I just got back from looking at a 2005 and I am not crazy about a few of the minor cosmetic changes other than the new shade of red. I am very satisfied customer at 5000 miles.

If it's a late 04 model, you will have the updated parts. It makes no sense to throw away the $2,000 rebate and the fact that the dealers are willing to deal on the 04's to make room for the 05's. As others mentioned, it's under warranty.

Get the VIN and check out the TSBs, some of the TSBs have VINs associated with them:
