My gas tank is too big!!!!!

Size isn't everything I found out today when trying to fill my tank with $2.30/gal fuel. The pump slowed when I approached $50 and then stopped right on $50. Puzzled I was, as the nozzle would give me no more, I went inside to find out what the haps. The manager told me there is a limit on credit card purchases at the pump of $50 which was obvious but the reasoning is to protect the customer from card theft and unauthorized typically large purchases of fuel. He also went on to say that they may be re-thinking that limit

I too have found this "issue". Need to swipe the card again and finish off the last few dollars, but these days the last few dollars is getting to be more like the first many dollars. Time to start biking to work =)

wow....if you were bone dry, and filled up to say 26 gal (leave a couple for expansion), you're talking 59.80 for a tank of gas at 2.30/gal. i thought i had it bad with 1.94/gal.

I'm thinking about putting a brick or two in my gas tank to displace gas thus saving $$$. I did this to my toilet and it worked to cut my water usage.

During the latest slide in prices, my station got down to $2.05 and I was actually happy to pay it. Now I plan my trips a little bit to ride out his latest gouge.

I win with 2.35 in gas prices here in California!

I only do 25 dollar fill ups since prices often fluctuate so much. Its often an investment to just fill up the tank if you see 2.25 in some places.

The day prices below $2.00 are officially over.

in the next 10-25 years, we will be driving economy cars.

Imagine dollar cost averaging for gasoline purchases, what a twist. I'm gonna have to fill up more often and start discriminating a little bit about where I get my "investment" if this keeps up. Ouch

Oh and drags1998.....good one.

and in 10-25 years, the cars will be narrow enough to fit into today's narrow parking spaces. But wait... the parking spaces in 10-25 years will be about 3 foot wide, so our Electric Mini Cooper's with either king or crew cab sized beds will still be about a foot too wide to fit into the close parking spots.

But just imagine the turning radius!!!!

Well you know we have distribution problems here in the bay area that account for the high price. Our nearest refinery Tosco,Chevron and a few others, is al the way over in Martinez which is maybe 40 miles from here. So you can see how the transportation costs can shoot the price into the stratosphere TIC. Same with salmon and dungeness crab, the ocean is way the heck over the hill from here.

the location i was told had alot to do with it. gas stations on main street or middle of town will have higher prices becuase of higher rent or lease to the property. but some places out in the middle of know where will have higer prices because there arent any competitors. makes sense i guess.

Try putting the brick underneath the accelerator so you can't mash it down to the floor and waste fuel.
