I don't disagree that the NV makes perfect financial sense for them to use as the platform for an HD Titan should they decide to go with an HD version at all. But, that doesn't speak to a light duty (1/2 ton) Titan.

The Titan needs to be profitable, but decisions such as that made regarding the Pathfinder allow them to continue the Titan.

More to the point, I hope it doesn't take the lines of the NV. Taking the design language of the Pathy seems HIGHLY unlikely (they're in two different market segments), but the NV... :dunno:

good points. I guess what I meant was that the direction SUV's are going towards now are more like station wagons; not what I think of when I think of an SUV. just don't want to see the Titan turn into something it shouldn't be.

There are very few cars or SUVs actually built on a frame anymore. It just isn't necessary with the unibody designs being stronger than they were just a few years ago. Trucks will always need the frames, its part of the basic design.
Tough to say what Nissan will do with the Titan. I'm surprised they still make the Frontier.

The Fronty can be viable if it goes on a diet and gets better on gas mileage. The lines between "small" trucks and full size trucks is so marginal that it confuses buyers. Price, mileage, size...they're just too similar. Think about the Ranger and it's death and why that happened.

The Frontier sells. It's good competition for the Tacoma.

exactly. I almost bought a new frontier before the titan I have now. with rebates they equaled out to almost the same price and the difference in 3-4 mpg wasn't worth the smaller truck imo. with ford, im sure the ranger versus f-150 were similar and more people were opting for the latter.

Colorado, gone. Dakota, gone. Ranger, gone. See a trend here? All became bloated midsize trucks, all gone.

As a sidebar, Google "Chicken Law" regarding small trucks. The law needs to go away.

I want to have faith in Nissan but it is hard when their original plan was to have Dodge make the truck for us in Mexico.

Photoshop BS. It's a Pathy that's been chopped with (of all things) Tundra tail lights. 5 lug wheels, luggage rack...come on.

No way, thats def a photo chopped pathy.

Re: 2015 Titan

I doubt it. A pickup, even a small/midsize one, needs a frame on body. That doesn't appear to be what you're seeing there. And even the Fronty uses 6 lug wheels, though it's probably overkill for a midsize truck.

And why redesign it with Tundra tails???

Re: 2015 Titan

true. either way its fugly. I thought it might be seeing as how the old pathfinders and frontiers had similar fronts and maybe Nissan was sticking to that method is all.

And that's possible. Design language changes over time and the Pathy illustrates where Nissan is going with their manstream product(s). But now that Frontys and Pathys don't share a common underpinning and are targeted to markedly different demographics, they don't need to look the same.

So...I sure as Hell hope they don't wind up looking very similar. I buck the trend around here in that I actually like the new Pathy for it's segment. But I don't want to see it in Nissan's truck segment.
