Smile Radio Fade Question

Is it the high end radio that is having problems or the basic radio with single cd player ?
Just want to know what not to get when I order my Titan.
Thanks
Colin

Only the 6 cd changer/radios have the problem, i.e., the mid-model and RF model. The base model single cd does not have the problem.

Ok, PLEASE tell me that you folks with a "fade" problem are not confusing a problem with the fact that the stereo is equiped with an SSV system! The Speed Sensitive Volume (keep tapping the tune button until you see SSV) will raise and lower the volume at whatever rate (off-low-med-or high) you set it at when you get up over about 30 MPH. This it supposed to be to overcome road noise. Our 04 Quest has it, so I'm familiar with it. If you didn't know the stereo had the feature, it could be seen as a problem. Let me know if this is in fact what you're experiencing!

Everybody knows about SSV. The fade problem has nothing to do with SSV.

No the sound goes from stereo to a AM mono sound then back to stereo. Also you find that stations that you can receive in other cars or your home stereo won't stay locked on or even be received by the radio. Also the longer you have the radio the worse it gets until the only good it's for is playing CD's.
Trust me if you have one you'll know it. Every song fades like an old pink floyd song.

Oh ok...I'll keep checking mine then. I didn't understand that that's what was meant by "fading".

Do you have stereo separation with your FM radio on? If you just listen to AM *Talk Radio" you will not hear it.

Mine did it mostly when staying still. I would sit at a light, and out of nowhere my ST light would start flashing basically, once I moved it was fine.

Also, the volume difference and sound quality between radio and CD was HUGE. A lot of people said their trebble would fade in and out, but I had the opposite problem...NO bass...none whatsoever. Replaced the unit under TSB and now my radio sounds 100% better.

I do notice that reception is HIDEOUS! Especially since the station I listen to most is about 20 miles away! I haven't noticed any fade but.....very staticky in and out reception.

By the way...other than the BOSE systems, Nissans Clarion head units have always had a huge volume and sound difference between FM and CD. The RF system in my 02 Fronty was the same...as is the one in our new Quest.
