i am on the ledge of taking the plunge and buying a titan. i test drove it and it is sooooo awesome. the only thing i am worried about is gas prices. that and it is my biggest purchase ever. i am looking at a SE KC 4x2 with bedliner, floormats, and splashguards. the dealer quoted 23150, so it would be 23150+tax-2000 rebate. I think the rebate will equilize out the tax so its around 23k out of door. now make your best sales pitch and push me over the edge!
If you are worried about the price of gas, you may not want to consider the Titan. I am getting in the 15 range on my daily commute with a KC 4X4 with off road and big tow. I consider that good and am happy, however in the 1.5 months I owned it, I have spent $377 for gas for about 3100 miles. That works out to about 12.2 cents per mile.
Of course I drive about 60 miles round trip daily, so I may put on more miles then you do.
I would also say all of the full size trucks are going to get approximately the same mileage, some better, some worse.
The smile factor makes this truck worth it to me.

That is the deal I got. I really like my truck I drove sports cars all my life but after the Titan I would never go back. Remember you are buying a 5.6 liter V8 and if it is brand new you are going to get bad mileage for 1500 miles or so. I started reading Titan Talk after I bought my truck and do not know if I would have done so after reading some of the horror stories....yeah I would have :-)
This truck is the best "bang for the buck" you will find today.

its fun to drive but we are gonna see 3 dollar gas within 12 months, IMHO. when you total it up every year, gas is not totally a deal breaker but you gotta look at your budget a little here. I'd probably have bought something else had I foreseen that 8 months ago because I put on 60 miles a day. that $40 buck fillup irks me a bit. juma
Tell her that its what you want. Sounds like a great price. Convince her that you need it to tow that new boat! If your worried about the gas milage, you can always go and buy a bicycle!!!

When people say "clean as a whistle", they forget that a whistle is full of spit.
If gas prices are your final deciding factor, I would consider 2 things.
1. Not buy anything at all, if you have safe and reliable transportation now.
2. Not buy a full size truck.
I would hate for you to buy the Titan and not be able to use/enjoy it.
Something else to consider if you choose not to buy the Titan at this time.
Figure out how much your monthly note would be. Then each month deposit that amount into some type of financial account.(hopefully a growth account)
Then when the "time" is right or gas prices are "down", you will have a nice chunk of change in your pocket. Then go buy your new Titan or go buy someone else's who didn't properly prepare for their financial debt.
GS...Have her drive it! Oh wait, maybe not...then you could end up like me and have to wrench the keys from her. My wife shocked the heck outta me when she first saw the Titan last year at a Z show. She said..hmmm, I could drive that.
Sure enough, by JAN whe was buggin me to go 'look at them' for real...and she wanted to trade in her Pathfinder for one.
Went for the test drive - she drove and there was no going back. We are over 26k miles on the truck. Yeah, gas fillups for us are pretty 'routine' by now...but the pleasure we get out of the truck for us makes it worth it.
Up here in the great white north, we're paying 82.9 cents a litre. Multiply that by 4.5 and you can figure out the rest!! That is an imperial gallon. The truck has just turned 10,000 kilometers (6200 Miles) and my computer has the average mpg at 18.6. My buddies HEMI is getting 11.9. Don't know how heavy his foot is. All I know is that the TITAN kicked BUT against the hemi the other night on a 1 mile run from a dead stop! The Smile FACTOR was incredible!
Letting her drive the Titan cost me an Armada. Life is short....at the end of the day regardless of the cost ......you will either enjoy it or regret whatever you buy.

As others had said, if you are worried about gas, don't get a full size truck... they are all bad.
I faced the same dilemma with my wife; luckily she too loved the truck as much as I did. I could have bought a Ford or Dodge cheaper, but after driving the Titan, I could never settle on another truck because of price. If I had gotten another truck, every time I would see a Titan drive by, I would have regretted the decision... In any case, I love my Titan and it is the best truck purchase I ever made!

A recent article on msn stated that the increase in gas prices is not as impacting as we think. According to their calculations a 20 cent per gallon increase works out to about $200 per year for the average car driver. So, if you double that for a Titan...you'll probably only spend $400-600 more a year on gas and get to drive a kick *** truck.
To convince your wife, I agree with the previous post...just imagine how much stuff you can haul around. You'll end up saving money on taking less trips and not paying for delivery charges...although, I've ended up spending more money since I got the Titan because of all the stuff I decided to buy that I had been putting off before having the truck.
I understand that spending an extra $500 a year on fuel is a concern for many folks but if its that much of a big deal, then get a Prius and make multiple trips to the store.

8. Bed area makes into a very large cooler for icing down your beer
9. With a plastic liner, bed area makes for a nice (but shallow) swimming pool
10. Provides a convenient place for your dog to ride
11. Most women love trucks!
