How to lock the sliding bed extender

I was wondering if the bed extender locks in anyway? You know how on the Ford bed extender you can't unhook it without the tailgate down. So no one can just walk up and take it. Does the Nissan bed extender do anything like that?

Yes, the bed extender can be locked into the tailgate. There are clips on the extender that clip into the holes in the tailgate where the gate normally would go to the truck when closed (I know, bad explanation). However, these clips are pointless since the clips are only secured to the bed extender by nylons threads (like tie-downs) that you can just pull out and take the extender.
